thanks all for the replies I really liked what one person had to say "when the desire to smoke is less than the desire to quit" That in itself speaks volumes Remember that old adage " It's so easy to quit,,,,heck,,i've done it hundreds of times." I had target dates before however !!! I still had 1 or 2 ciggies left in the pack so I tossed them in the freezer just couldnt bear to throw them out,,,,or give them away,,,Jan 19 I went to bed with no cigarettes left over, just an empty pack. II feel very positive and when is the hard part?

Sweeteedon, The hard part comes at different times for different quitters. The general conscensus is the first few weeks are the hardest. That being said, keep distractions and other coping strategies close. Reward and pamper yourself often and don't forget to keep us updated on how you're doing. :) Keep strong. Welcome. You will find all the support you need. Have you read the Quit Progam Tools at the left? When will the "hard part" come? Who knows. It may and if you are lucky it may not. Just prepare in case. Have some coping tools ready. Drink lot of water, read and post. Congrats on 5 days that is awesome :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 454 Amount Saved: $135 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 3 Mins: 19 Seconds: 11

Hi sugarbear - Welcome... this is a great place and it's led many of us to a strong, successful quit! Make sure to spend as much time here as ya can reading and reading more... Old posts were the ticket for me, - and take a look at the program on the left... Being prepared is so very important! Trying won't get it with quitting - so if you're willing to change that to doing - you have a great chance if you stick close, if you're open and willing to accept support and encouragement and if your desire to smoke is less then your desire to quit. Glad you're here - make yourself comfortable and get ready for the ride of your life! Just reach out and let us know how you're doing and how we can support you!!
