Candi, Never beat yourself up. It doesn't get you anywhere. Realize what you've done, and learn from it. I should know, I must have tried to quit 10 time alone this year. And I lost my mom to cancer in January. I'm still learning. Starting with Zyban and the patch on Jan. 1/07. Hang in there! You'll do this. Take the time to prepare for this quit. All the best to you, Jan

Hi Candy, That's quit a story girl. I hope you have the strenght to deal with all that sadness. Please ask your husband not to smoke around you. If he was wise he would stop together with you. If people would know how really bad secondhand smoke is for childeren then not one parent would smoke. But most people have no idea what they do to their childeren. Their addiction is more important than the childerens health. I'm glad you made the good decision girl, you can do this. Think about your daddy every time you crave. That will help you. Post often and read all you can. Good luck for you girl. Candi0416, Many quitters struggle with the idea of weight gain. Remember it is temporary and as your metabolism readjusts it will come off with a little work. If you're having trouble with your smoking spouse, try to talk to him. Try to set boundaries together. Some couples have found it helpful if the other spouse takes their smoking outside or contains it to one room of the house. Start having fun with your reward system. Give yourself tangible rewards for staying smoke free to keep from feeling deprived. Keep persevering. You can do this! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Welcome Candi! I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Unfortunately, that is what smoking does. We just never think it will happen to us. And many just give up on themselves and continue to smoke. However, their illness is not entirely about them. Sure, they have the illness, but it is us who have to take care of them. Just like one of your baby boys. Same thing ~ except it is the one who raised you once.......... Keep remembering that one day, one of your kids will be seeing you take your last breath. That is, if you do not quit smoking. It is an awesome Christmas present you are giving yourself and your family! Make this the first (in a long time) smoke-free Christmas!! I too smoked while pregnant. If I could slap myself I would. I never realized what is took to quit, and you know what? It's not that bad. It is doable! I wish I did this 8 years ago!!! But at least I am doing it now, that is what matters. Stay strong, and stay close by. We will help you and guide you through anything! Make sure your coping mechanisms are handy, as you will be going through a bumpy ride. Hang on tight, and just let it be what it is. Don't fight it, just embrace it. It is a wonderful thing to be smoke free!!!!!!!!! 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 287 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,610 Amount Saved: $938.49 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 2 Mins: 18 Seconds: 24

Candi, you are doing so well...please don't fall for the weight trap. It's a lie that your junkie self tells you. You might get skinny again, sure. But what's the deadly tradeoff? Asthma for your son? Maybe even cancer for him, or your spouse, or yourself? You can be thin, but you will also stink like stale tobacco. Is that what you want for your life? You have the right to ask your husband not to light up around you. You also have the choice to get up and walk away. Candi, do whatever it takes to keep your quit. You will be so glad that you did!
