update ... day 23 I feel much better today than yesterday! Maybe it is knowing that I made it through a HORRIBLE crave and beat old Nic once again! :) Karen - How are you today? Peteg - Thanks for all your "helps" I know it gave me strength Rainie - I did a lot of those breathing exercises and believe me, it made the cravings bearable and short lived. Hi Rhonda, Don't know if any of our Buddies here have stopped the Chantix or not. How can you be on week 12? Your Quit meter says 12/31/06 (that's probably only 6 weeks?) I'll be taking it for the next 3 months. I will take them too, because I know only too well the anxiety and depression that goes along with smoke cessation (from my first cold-turkey quit of 10 years. Right now is that blah state (the grieving period). We've buried our friend who we used to do everything with. Now who do we play with? At this point in a cold turkey quit, you want diversions...other activities to replace the wasted time you used to smoke. Excerise, new hobbies, or such come in handy. Get involved in something and don't worry about the day to day...mine is too. Remember that the Chantix is probably helping your moods much more than you realize, I would be very cautious about stopping it. I just keep patting myself on the back that I haven't lit up a cigarett and marking those big red X's on my calendar showing me I have succeeded! It feels so different now to climb into my car and not have to make sure my lighter and cigs are in the right spot for me to grab..ha-ha I don't even think about it ...and...it takes me less time to do what I used to do. So yeagh...I'll stay on the Chantix. auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,681 Amount Saved: $156.75 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 15 Mins: 2 Seconds: 43

Hi Den2, I'm posting (coping with cravings) from Sardinia, Ohio (southern ohio next to the River and Kentucky)and man...are we getting some of your cold Canadian "Blast"...shvvrrrr Down to wind chill of zero today and the temps are dropping. There are so many post sites and discussions to keep up with, it could keep you at the pc allllll dayyyyyyyyyyyyy! Sure hope your Doctor can find the Chantix (not cantrix)for you, just type in Chantix on the search bar, will give you just about all the information you or the Doc might need. Hope for smokers around the world that it will become available! med is made by Pfizer, in Ireland and ...the side effects were very minimal, taken as directed. My daughter recommended it to me or I would have been one of the ones saying ...no more magic pills. I wouldn't have believed it if I had not tried it! Good luck Den2 auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,679 Amount Saved: $156.75 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 52 Seconds: 37

Rhonda-crabby Hey kiddo...you know we are all having those "blah-blah" days too! It's OK...you just shout it out to us... Are you doing the Cold-Turkey Quit? your agitation sounds like it. Tis one of the symptoms of withdrawal and habbit disintergration. (oooohhh...awful awful awful...I hated it...brggggh) Hang in there girl...you're right on schedule to a successful Quit!! auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,579 Amount Saved: $147.25 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 16 Seconds: 34

Den2, I didn't like the wellbutrin and it's brand brother (Zyban...gave me a headache). Do you eat something before you take the med? A full glass of water after you take the med may also eliminate the stomach cramps and headache. I'm using Chantix...but Doc says I should stay on it for awhile too. (Chantix is more expensive than Wellbutrin) I remember the difficulty I had cold-turkey quitting back in 1982 (Aug 17 to be exact). For 10 years I remained a non-smoker... so, as an experienced quitter and knowing now from all the publicity the cigarette manufacturers have gotten about increasing the addictive properties of smokes...I wouldn't even attempt to try cold-turkey again. Den..better listen to the Doc on this one, you might mention the Chantix...to him though. this is probably the only product I would recommend to anyone wanting to quit. I have experienced cravings, but no where near what the cold-turkey did. this med also helps with the depression that is masked by smoking and is unveiled when you stop. I'm not having cravings now either...they are gone. I experience emotional triggers that make me think about smoking...but I can handle that and deal with the emotion. I like the fact that I am a NON-SMOKER NOW (and will remain one...believe me!) keep posting ...and Keep the Quit...it does get easier with every puff we "Don't Take" auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,577 Amount Saved: $147.25 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 15 Seconds: 8

Thanks a million aunt Deb. I'm sorry I missed your post. Had a mental day at work yesterday. I'm hanging in but still hate this welbutrin. Will check in with the Doc on Monday re Cantrix last time I asked he hadn't heard of it, I'm sure if its out there he can find it he is after all an addiction specialist. Where are you posting from? I'm in Canada and maybe thats why we haven't heard. Any how till then happy trails and may God bless.Den2 : :) ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 284 Amount Saved: $280 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 4 Mins: 38 Seconds: 37
