Question about meds

Thanks Smiley. I haven't been taking anything for the past couple of days....I figure I'll try to get my head straight then resume taking the stuff every 2-3 days like I was doing...heck...it seemed to work fine then. I know we aren't suppose to be self medicating and adjusting dosages but sometimes I feel like the doctors don't have a clue. When this whole thing started several years ago my doc kept changing my meds and combinations of meds. Its really screwed me up. Went to a different doc who took me off of everything, started me on Prozac, told me to give it some time and when I did as instructed I actually got better. So I know there is hope for me yet. I got up this morning and had a cup of coffee, then the anxiety started creeping up on me again. I ended up staying home from work. I feel fine now. I think there is something to this caffeine thing as well. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl and Smiley, Have you tried Celexa? I found no relief with Paxil (too many side effects), very little help from Effexor (tremors, sweating), was too afraid to try Wellbutrin, but have found some relief with Celexa combined with the occasional dose of Ativan, for when life gets really rough. I was prescribed 20mg/day but can generally get by with half (I'm a small person who is rather drug-sensitive). It's just a suggestion and I believe there is a generic substitute available. Regards, Nicole :)

Hello Cheryl!! Yes, I take zoloft and in the beginning I started out at 25 mg for 4 days, 50 mg for 4 days, then 75 mg. Each time I'd increase it, I would feel really anxious for about 2-3 days straight. I would take xanax as needed. Those feelings finially subsided. I think it is just your body getting use to it.

I have been taking Prozac for several years now and it seemed to be doing the trick for me. For the last 3 years I did not have medical insurance so I had to pay cash for my meds. Needless to say they were expensive so I was only taking my 20mg every 3 days or so. Since January I have had medical insurance that pays for my presciption. I have since been taking them daily. In the past week my panic has returned and I'm anxious all the time. Does anyone know if it could be the increase in my medication? I was anxious 24-7 before I started taking it and it took about 6 weeks to start feeling better...so I can't say if the meds did this the first time it was prescribed...there was no way back then to differenciate between the two. Thanks Cheryl
