I remember that doing exercise was really helpful, particularly at the beginning of the quit, for me. It seems to be quite important to get rid of the excess energy that quitting creates. I spent a lot of time on my own, too, at the beginning - but then I did turn into a bit of a monster for the first couple of weeks.
Hang in there - things will settle down. The gym really helps!
