I'm sorry I missed your post too, but like so many...asleep. Still, I'm only guessing, mind you.....but I would bet the reason people (who at least appear to be having a tough time of it, whatever psychological state they are in) get many (or more)responses has a lot to do with the impression others get that these folks need support. That doesn't mean your post doesn't warrant a response...you make really good points about how we focus on one thing at the expense of another...but other than saying good post, smiley face, etc....I'd say the bulk of peoples' responses on a support site such as this will go to those that appear to be needing support. You shouldn't feel slighted...I think it's just the nature of the beast, Anyway ....good post :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 330 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,235 Amount Saved: $2970 Life Gained: Days: 55 Hrs: 3 Mins: 56 Seconds: 46

Positive and negative thinking is a trap. Why bother putting all that energy into positive and negative when you can concentrate all of you energy into getting what you want and living life. Hi Dutch Loved your post. I agree with almost everything except the one line where you say positive thinking takes the same amount of energy as negaative thinking. I think positive thinking adds to our energy resources and negative thinking drains our energy resources. You point out something very important about attitudes. I believe that an ounce of positive attitude is worth a megaton effort!! For me it's the reason why I felt I could quit. As Goethe says 'Whether or not you beleive you can or you can't, you are right' Lets be proud of what we have achieved and grateful of our quits. You are all so funny. I'm with Dutch that I'm all for thinking positive. I do know we have to lift up some of our wonderful ex-smokers sometimes and it might be me one of these days. But I'm trying to think positive about this quit. Taking one day at a time. Focusing on the possitive does keep the quit going. Negative thinking tries to take over but we must fight those negative thoughts in order to keep going. Not smoking is the key, regardless of how we do it! Congratulations to all you smoke-free wonderful people around here! I agree totally. It is a good play, but only if you don't get too caught up in the bad parts, just the good.
