Patches: Question

17 years ago 0 1010 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Yeah, I decided to stay on the 21 mg. I will step down in 2 weeks. I went to 3 different places to get the 1 week patch and I couldnt find it so I got the 2 weeks. If I feel safe next week, I will step down to 14 but at this time, I just do not feel 'safe' b/c of the stress from the gi docs, surgeon, and my sliding hiatal hernia. Too much for me at the moment. I am using the 'protect your quit at all costs' and that is what I am doing =) I hit 6 weeks yesterday which is where I fell off the last time. I cant wait to see how well I do now =) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 433 Amount Saved: $86 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 19 Mins: 30 Seconds: 32

Duckie congratulations on your decision to do whatever it takes to protect your quit! You have to do what feels right to you when you are ready. I have just 1 7mg patch left, then I'm on my own. Yeah I'm a little nervous, but I'll be ok. I know if the urge to smoke gets to be more than I can possibly handle, I will go buy another package of 7mg patches. I don't think I'll have to but I'm prepared to protect my quit at all costs. Check my stats; 106 days and just now getting off the patch (hopefully) so don't you worry about an extra week one bit. I'm proud of you and will keep praying for you. Love Auntie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,793 Amount Saved: $1172.36 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 20 Mins: 40 Seconds: 52

Hey Duckie---it's me 'Queen of the Patches'! Staying on another week won't hurt a thing and you should do what you feel is best. I've gone up, down, side-to-side and around with all the patches for five months off and on. It's your quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,769 Amount Saved: $440 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 16 Mins: 43 Seconds: 16

Duckie, I have to ask, do you run a bakery? You cook more sweets....and yes, I would like a peice of caramel! Hope you had a pleasant weekend and glad you are protecting your quit. Can I get a tall glass of milk with that? I started out with patches. They were a good mental crutch for me to use while I worked on my fear of quitting. Once I knew I could go a week without smoking, my confidence was up and my fear was gone. Physically I didn't feel so good and it was no wonder IMO, as the patches were continuing to put the drug in my system. Isn't this the drug that is causing me to be addiction and causing me to have physical withdrawals? Well, yep it sure is! So, fear gone, I tore my 21mg patch off and 3 days later felt so much better physically. It was the best thing I could have done for my quit. The patch just prolongs the physical withdrawal process IMO. BUT ... EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT ... so you must do what you think will aid you in YOUR QUIT. Whatever you decide ... as long as you don't smoke will be what works for you. Keep that quit going and CONGRATS! Duckie, You've handled this situation really well. You identified a high risk situation and tailored your quit plan accordingly. Kudos on a job well done! I have to add, yikes! Your aunt really is playing with fire! Nicotine overdose can be life threatning. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team
