:)Hi, Misty: I am really glad that you have decided to quit, and that you have found this site; it sure is helping me a lot. I smoked for 50 years, off & on (mostly on), and quit a bunch of times, with limited success, obviously. I Think it's good in a way that you are expecting to feel bad for awhile; better than being taken by surprise! But, it's also true,as 2tone pointed out, that we can pretty much decide how we are going to feel at any given time.
I tried this with some success, when the craving got bad: Take a long, deep breath, hold for 3 seconds, then exhale thru your mouth slowly, The cd that comes with the patches says that this mimics the deep inhales we used to take when smoking.
Another helpful thing was the idea of distancing myself from the craving, like this: Instead of "wallowing" in the feeling of what I want, I just mentally step aside from that feeling and examine it with curiosity: Hmm, so that's what craving a cigarette feels like...
What has helped me the most this time? Maybe the hypnosis, maybe I'm just really sick of failing at quitting, but certainly this site and all the help and info that's available here.
Best of luck!
