I just had lunch with the girlfriend. I feel better. I told her I have been quit for 111 days. "I'm so proud of you baby". If only she knew how ****ty I feel. I understand everything that 4my2girls is saying. And all of those things are all very well and good. Before I met my girlfriend I was going to the gym everday, running miles at a time and still smoking a pack a day. Sure I would have been THAT much better if I wasn't smoking, but since I've quit, I've stopped going to the gym all together, my eating habits are retarded, I feel lazy. I've gained 25 lbs. I used to have a six pack and all that good stuff. It's just very frustrating that my life seems to have made a turn for the worse since quitting. I know it's best for me. I think anyone knows that. All I'm saying is.... actually I have no idea what I'm saying. All these things seem like personal problems that aren't related to smoking. I just think my brain tries to relate them because I deep down have the junkie mentality.
All these things seem like personal problems that aren't related to smoking. I just think my brain tries to relate them because I deep down have the junkie mentality.
You are more clever than you seem to realize Neekman ;) Disclaimer: For some of us~maybe for U~maybe not If we don't find new ways to cope with life's stressors the first thing our brain will do (when confronted with emotion/triggers/etc.) is cue us to do what has been done so many times before "Yo dude~time to smoke! It's kinda like the good news/bad news line. The bad news is there is no key to the universe. The good news is it has been left unlocked. Usually we know what is bothering us. If we recognize the 'stressor' or 'personal problem' for what it is and address the issue rather than stewing over it or trying to avoid it by focusing on your phantom need/want for a cigarette we have basically learned another new way to cope. It's simple yet it's hard. Such is life. Be a strong man. Do it for you. Be a person YOU can be proud of. Come on Neek... let's be fair to the girlfriend here. I remember when you quit before and how many confessions you made to her that you were lying. Remember???? As for the pool hall... maybe you just aren't ready to be in that type of environment yet. I know 100 days is a lot but there are still things I don't do because I don't want to be around the smoking. Like bowling.. just don't trust myself. I didn't think the cravings would ever go away either. Everyone around knows I've had my fair share of them, but I want you to know that I have finally reached a point where I'm not a smoker anymore. Sure, I know that at any time just one puff would send me right back to where I came from but I don't want that one puff. It does take a long time but it is worth it. The 100 day mark is remarkable and I think a lot of people expect to "be over it" by now. Let's face it, we just don't get over smoking over night. It takes a long time but everyday is easier and if you just keep going, you will get there. I think you've come too far to go back now. I hope you feel the same. It's good to see you checking in and still quit. I love to see a fighter succeed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 502 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,048 Amount Saved: $1757 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 6 Mins: 41 Seconds: 50

How about a reward for your success of last night? Sounds like one is in order here. I believe in giving credit where credit is do and I think you are doing an Awesome job. I'm sure your girl friend loves you tremendously and just wants what is best for you. If you really think she's waiting for you to F up again, prove her wrong. :) Take some deep breaths and let it go. I'm sure she believes in you. Neek, First pat yourself on the back for 100+ days! Your girlfriend has all the right intentions and we are not here to give you this kind of advice :) Be open and honest and know that you have done a good job. Start to do this for yourself and know that it was a great decision and you will be a better you. Start a snowball fight to get out of family stress and have fun with winter sports. Your doing great and celebrate to validate you and your quit. We are always here to support, not judge :) You have received some great posts, take what you need and keep it close :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
