would be great to have a mentor!

I've been here a short while, but have noticed that I was`a much heavier smoker than most, and while I am determined NOPE!, I'm not a familiar user of forums, and know I will have rough spots. I planned my quit for annual leave, and a visit to my daughter in the U.S.A. I've been home 4 days, so far so good! Back to work on Wednesday, and I am nervous. I would need some coaching on messenger too I'm afraid! Everyone here seems to be doing so well, and just reading the posts is inspiring, and realising what a dreadful addiction we have makes me even more determined.Would I need to know messenger to have a mentor? Will anyone help? Thanks Phil, Yes, 50 years beats my effort, and 20 days is a positive start, I quit once before for 4 years, and having no brains, started again, 25 yrs ago. I remember it being about 3months of misery the last quit, so i guess it will be longer this time. However, more money already, looking forward to an extra 1500.00 for Christmas, more chores done, and smelling better are bonuses! Thanks for your support. Hey, thanks to all the well wishes, looking at all the smoke free days between you, and the varied locations, we could be contributing to a cleaner earth! I'm in Australia, by the way, and Phil( ok mate )would you be as well? I haven't had too bad a day today, but ate heaps, as it was raining, and had the kids over. Had a friend who'd quit cave in after 9 weeks *&^%!!!. (won't be me!)but best of all, my eldest has quit for 6 days, wasn't a heavy smoker, but any is too many for one you lerrv! Thanks again, another "V" day! Hi Phil, I've been lurking today, and have two things to ask. Did you find out much about Chantix? I'm not going to smoke, but after chain smoking for so long, sometimes I seem to crave for hours, consequently I'm eating heaps, and it really is stopping me from enjoying some of the freedom from smoking. Also did you ever catch up with the truck driver and his wife who were doing so well? He was a chewer.Hope youv'e had a great weekend, and still smellin' sweet! Thanks Phil, you are right, control is the key, and I have been starting to weaken, thinking of an easier way perhaps. Maybe getting back to work will be good, I've already noticed that its worse when I'm relaxing, and not when stressed.Focusing on what "I" want does put the voyage in perspective, on the road ahead perhaps. Thanks girls for the encouragement, and especially the cake Marie, thank goodness its only print or it would be inhaled too! Seriously, I've stopped treating myself with long forgotten pastries, and made up trail mix with some smarties and raisins for the treat. Do what you can not to focus on what you're missing about smoking when those cravings come. I know it is hard but the less foot hold you give the cravings the less intense they will feel. Block out the thoughts as much as possible and ride them out. I found the post about the serenity prayer for smokers to be helpful in that it said to "accept" the discomfort and the craving. You have to accept it and ride it out. Not easy, I know. You're doing great. It will eventually get easier.
