Jan, you stay on that path just one day ahead of me where you're supposed to be. You are not allowed to turn around and even look back at the prison we broke out of. You keep going forward. Do what you need to do to not smoke. It helps me to work on my physical health by working out a little and doing something aerobic. Maybe this will help you to. I'm borrowing Dutch's water bucket and I know how to use it. Hi Quit Sister! You are so awesome, to be posting how you are feeling in such a positive way. I know that you are doing this, but I wonder if you are finding it hard to reward yourself each and every day? EVERY day you must do something nice for yourself. Think about how often we used to light up, and now we are "only" rewarding the big things, like one week or 3 weeks, or months... So I try very hard to do one little something like a special coffee or a tea (I found a cinnamon apple spice tea that smells heavenly and has a little nutmegish bite to it. Yum) or a particular candy I like, or a magazine, or just giving myself permission to play a video game (I am becoming addicted to Texas Hold Em) for half an hour if I'd like. EVERY DAY I try to do something for me. A soak in a hot bath? I thought I didn't have time to soak for an hour in the tub, but if you combine all the minutes I used to spend smoking, it gives me roughly 300 minutes extra! Who knew? So I spend 60 of them getting all pruney, and it's so heavenly! Just a little comfort each day, and plan it so it's a reward you can look forward to. When you wake up, you can say, today is the day I do: insert reward here. Just a thought, but it seems to help me keep my happy dance going! Looking forward to seeing yours again! Oh, and jumping up and down and screaming is wonderful aerobic exercise, too! I've definately done it a time or seven! Geepers........I'm always late for the party - Glad you made it through the day Jan and, so far, have not landed in jail. A nice, relaxing evening sounds wonderful. You guys are totally awesome!!!! I don't have time to think about smoking, you have me laughing so hard. And you know what, I'll be OK. I know what to expect in terms of moods, and hopefully how to deal with them. And with all you guys on my side, how could I possibly backtrack? Tonight its a hot bath, cup of tea, and maybe a good crime show or two. Thanks to all you for all your wonderful responses. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 680 Amount Saved: $198 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 11 Mins: 23 Seconds: 26

I woke up this morning in the throes of the biggest struggle yet! The cravings have gripped me HARD. I hate how this addiction has such an ability to dig its claws in deep. So...back to basics for me. Back to baby steps, a few minutes at a time. I want to jump up and down and scream...but what I want even more is my happy dance back! Be posting lots today! Jan, You might be hitting the "30 day pit" a little early. It's normal and it DOES pass! Be good to yourself! Have you rewarded yourself for 3 weeks yet? If so, what was it? If not, it sounds like you're due one. And what's your BIG one month reward? One month is coming up quick and I hope you have a fine reward planned! For me, thinking about upcoming rewards was always something that not only got my mind OFF of smoking, but also gave me a goal to look forward to. Hang in there! Crave the Quit!
