Sleeping problems

17 years ago 0 1 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I also have trouble sleeping. I usually wake up every ten minutes or so and look at the clock and think , it's only been ten miutes since I looked at the clock before. I need to sleep. I started with cold turkey stop smoking on Monday December 18- 2006 . I do good at work and when I get home without actually even being tempted to smoke. I am so tired when I do try to go to sleep, only to be awaken most of the night. It's gets so bad where I cry. I finially give in to my cravings and light a cigarette to take three puffs only hoping I can sleep longer than ten minutes at a time. I cry because I gave in with those three hits , but I got to sleep , I have to work twelve hours tomorrow. I do go to sleep and I slept for a hour then I woke up again. I guess every hour's a little better than every ten minutes.

Hi All! Well, today is day three of no nicoderm patches and 14 days smoke free!!!!! I'm having trouble sleeping. When I finally get to sleep I'm suddenly jolted awake. I think my body is getting used to no nicotine being in my system but I'm not sure. Anyone else have sleeping problems like this? Thanks everyone. Thanks everyone for the input. I slept a little bit better last night. My body has been doing the jitterbug while I'm laying in bed and then when I'd finally calm down and fall asleep I'd suddently wake up......GEEEEEZZZZZZZ. Last night was a MUCH better night. Glad to hear from every one of you!!!!!!!!!! I also had sleeping problems. Before giving up smoking I had needed upwards of 10 hours sleep per night. Almost as soon as I quit I realised I no longer needed as much sleep. I now see it as a bonus, giving me more hours in my day. I now wonder if life would have been different if I'd never smoked, and in what way? We'll probably never know!!!! I'm currently on the 21mg patch (three weeks now), and I take the patch off at night, and have actually been sleeping better than ever before....except for the hubby snoring....in the morning, he is trying to figure out how he got all the bruises.... :eg: If you used to wake up in the middle of the night and have a cig...it's possible your body and mind is remembering that. Just sit tight and I'm sure it will work itself out. hi linda, what you are describnig is quite normal nicotine is a stimulant, so when we withdraw, we can have sleeping troubles because you are sleeping deeper, so perhaps don't sleep as long there is no need to worry,it does get better lynnexx My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 516 Amount Saved: 136 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 20 Mins: 51 Seconds: 54

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

The first 2 or 3 weeks I had trouble falling asleep, but once asleep I was ok. Hang on for a bit, now I am sleeping better than I ever have before, I sleep deeper and wake up feeling rejuvinated and energetic. The longer you stay quit the better ALL of your bodily functions will get!! Also, when I first quit and even still I have very very very vivid dreams of smoking. I find then upsetting because I haven't been thinking of smoking much even while awake! Keep on going, lookin' great!! I used a 1/2 over the counter sleep aid a few times when I had sleeping problems. Did not need it after a couple weeks. I now sleep wonderful.
