Colleen I am so happy to hear you are doing better!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK--You seem to me to actually be a VERY positive person deep down but there is a patch you hit where the nicodemon tried to trick you into thinking you weren't who you really are, but hey YOU WON!! And we all will if we keep the faith!!! JT PLEASE HANG IN THERE!!! I think we started our quit around the same time, I am on day 6, and what a DOOOZEY!!:8o: I'll do another post on it. We just HAVE TO HANG IN THERE. I know it is tough but it is SOOOOO WORTH IT, IT IS!!! KEEP THE FAITH AND REWARD YOUSELF (I JUST DID WITH A WONDERFUL OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIE -MY FAV, AND YES JUST ONE LOL!!!) Read this board as MUCH as you can and then read more, real good advice I found and I am giving it right back too. Then lend a hand to someone who is in worse shape than you. I am sticking with it here, CUZ I'M COMMITT TO MY QUIT!!! MANY BLESSINGS!!! Hi Colleen, I'd say that what you're experiencing isn't the "norm." and - from reading your post, it seems like you've struggled with these feelings for awhile now. A lot of people I know started smoking to mask something about themselves they didn't want to deal with (myself included). This may be the case with you. It may not be. All the same, if you are having these feelings for long periods of times, you should talk to your health care professional about them. There's help out there when we become overwhelmed by feelings such as these. Seek support from your friends and family if you can, and from the group, but most of all from the professionals that can guide you through rough patchs, if need be. Hoping you feel better soon, Jackey My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/22/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 110 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,210 Amount Saved: $459.8 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 0 Mins: 37 Seconds: 44

Feeling sort of similar. I don't want to smoke but I just want to feel 'normal'again like Colleen. It's as if I am in some type of suspended state. I wonder if my idea of 'normal' is just being a smoker. I suppose it's just impatience and probably too much to ask after over 30 years addicted. Please help guys - I am struggling so much to be positive and be happy that I am not smoking. When I was smoking, all I wanted to do was stop and now that I have stopped, it's not as great as I thought it would be. Even still, enjoying my quit meter. Nice sunny morning here - I am off for a walk. Happy Easter to all.

Colleen: 50 Days is SO FABULOUS. I am totally happy for you on this accomplishment but at the same time am sad that you are not liking yourself today. I have days (especially when I smoked) that I did not like myself and everyday I have not smoked has never been as bad as the guilt and shame of smoking! Be good to yourself and take care. I know it's difficult but do something that you really enjoy,it's important and be proud of what you have done. You're aa STAR! Smoking was never your friend, just something that was killing you -- smoking takes life away from your days and days away from your life. Hi Colleen - Hang in there... The energy will most likely shift (from where you are/were when you posted) and remember ~ when energies shift, emotions usually come up. If this doesn't get better for you in a week or so, let me know, as I have a suggestion that may support you on your journey. Hi Colleen, congratulations on 50 days!!! That's a wonderful accomplishment. You are doing great and it would really suck if you had to start all over again. I'm right behind you and would hate to go through those horrible weeks of withdrawal again. There will be good days and bad and you're not alone. We are ALL going through this process of healing, mentally and physically. You can do this. I know you can. I started running and walking and I can tell you that's definitely brought my spirits up. Read and post often. Helping others on this site will make you feel so much better. You are an inspiration to the newbies. Protect your quit. Do Not Lose What You've Gained. Colleen It does get different. it all changes and as the days pass your mood will change, I know for me it did. Keep posting, keep rewarding yourself and treating yourself very gently. These times when we are so vulneable we can be very, very fragile. Please take care. One foot in front of the other and give yourself a lot of big big hugs. Wrap yourself in your own tenderness. And remember Not One Puff Ever. You are doing an amazing job. Congratulations.
