WHY WHY WHY

OH sweetie, go back and look at the reasons why you wanted to quit, whatever you do don't pick up a cig., it could take you back to smoking and remember how you felt your first couple days of your quit, trust me Im there now you don't want to be here. I figure nictoine addiction is like an alcolholic, can't have one drink because they will start drinking like they never quit. Just keep posting, posting Im only on my 3 quit day, but I remember when I quit cold turkey before I said to myself "one won't hurt me after 3 weeks of quiting" and it did. I started back up like I didn't even quit. Okay, here a hug, just hang in there... Im watching you..hehe My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 70 Amount Saved: $16 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 17 Seconds: 33

Valic...bump for 4my2girls "Embrace Your Freedom" It would be a real shame for you to start smoking again, and in 5 or 6 years you wake up one morning with a cigarrett cough and think "where the hell did this come from?", and when your feet hit the floor on your way to the bathroom while your taking that drag...your chest starts ever so faintly throbbing... and ...you say to yourself "I've got to quit this nasty habit"..."it's killing me" and as this thought leaves your mind another one comes along ..."Oh God...the withdrawal...the cravings....maybe next week" Your 100 days are coming up and you "REALLY DO HAVE SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE" Give yourself that mini reward and bask in the big one...you deserve it Hon auntdeb ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 38 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,921 Amount Saved: $180.5 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 6 Mins: 50 Seconds: 35

Hang in there. Smoking or Not Smoking. Exciting or not exciting. What else do you have going on in your life that is just for you? With a full schedule it's hard to fit that in. Do you have anything that you have incorporated into your everyday life since your quit that is just for you? It doesn't have to be something that takes time or a lot of money. I am having an identical experience! Reading is really helpful -- I think I'm just bored/burnt out (no pun intended) with this quit. I don't want to smoke, I just don't feel like quitting any more. How insane is that??? I'm sure it will pass -- way into the NOPE thing and on my guard, but still.... peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,025 Amount Saved: $550 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 8 Mins: 29 Seconds: 6

Smoking is just not an option, though, is it? The minute you tell yourself this, perhaps the cravings wont have so much power. It's madness though, isn't it, that we have fought this battle for so long, and still find that some days the defense is weaker? Nicotine has a funny way of making the brain think that it is still addicted, even though the body has been clean from the chemicals for a long time. Nasty stuff. The cravings will pass, as you know. The more you fight against this addiction, the stronger you become. This you probably know, too(!!) I hope you're feeling a bit better by now. Be strong! Guess its back to the old coping skills for me because cravings are hitting me hard. I feel like I am back on day 2! Maybe beause my quit is boring to me now? I mean its never boring but maybe a part of me says ok we have been smoke free now we can go back to smoking? I have no idea. Its just one of those days, lucky for me I don't have to work 2nd job tonight maybe time for a hot bubble bath as a reward? I have a facial and pedicure coming up for my birthday/100 day celebration, but maybe I need a mini reward. Thanks just needed to vent. ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 98 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 492 Amount Saved: $519.4 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 0 Mins: 15 Seconds: 49

Valic, A lot of people expirence the very same thing around 100 days quit. For some reason, people tend to not want to fight their quit anymore. I mean, you don't actually get cravings, but more like thoughts of how it used to feel, and you actually make yourself miss it. So now you are thinking of how good you thought it was to relieve your nicotene withdrawls........... You are not the same person you were, and you don't feel "normal" yet. (That can take quite a long time!!) You feel out of place. But you live your day to day life not smoking..... All for what???? Where are you going with your quit??? What do you want out of it??? I promise you this, if you want your quit, you will find yourself again. It is wonderful to finally feel like I have a place in this world again! I love the new me, and have no intention of going back. I embrace my freedom!! You will too, just hang in there, and be proud of yourself!! 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 339 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,189 Amount Saved: $1108.53 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 7 Mins: 55 Seconds: 1

Valic I sooooooo Identify with you! OMG that feeling of boredom, what now, okay I've done this when will it be different and on and on and on. THIS BOREDOM CHANGES. Give yourself lots and lots and lots of acknowledgment. You have got through 98 days, you have made huge strides to getting a new smoke free life. REWARDS these are huge, they got me through. I am not talking about chocolate, or another candy or a great meal, or even a pie, I am talking about doing something healthy and constructive for yourself. Bubble baths and nice body lotions were great for me. I have a sauna and I would go in in the middle of the summer and sweat myself to dropping. ACTIVITY, get going for a brisk walk, playing and getting your heart rate up to get your system pumping, you might be surprised at how well this might work, (please be aware and check with your Doctor first before you go out and do this and trust to consult with your Doctor who will perhaps be able to give you some physical activities and guidance here). DAYLIGHT, be aware of how much time you spend in clear light help yourself to as much daylight and natural light as you can, this can help shift your mood. INVENTORY, know and remind yourself about how much you are giving to yourself, your family and your community by being smoke free, by giving yourself the gift of life. Push comes to shove ride the rails bare knuckled and get yourself through. Smoking will not change this and getting over this hump will get you closer and closer to live life without smoke.
