Never Again: Thank you for a most uplifting message to those of us still somewhat new in our quit. It is so encouraging to hear that nearly two years later, you're as proud of yourself as you were at the beginning and that your resolve is even stronger. That's a level of hope we all need to hear. It'll be TWO YEARS smoke-free for me! All I'm saying is this: once you get through the tough part of losing the habit, it'll be smooth sailing all the way! It took me well over 3 months to completely kick the habit, physiologically and mentally. I used the patch for 4 weeks and one day I found myself "forgetting" to put it on. So I figured that if I could forget it, I obviously didn't need it. So I went cold turkey from that point on. It was very very hard, I won't lie. But it got easier and easier everyday. The craviings came farther and farther apart, and when they did they were weaker and weaker. To this day I still get triggered once in a while, after a meal or drinking or something, but the cravings come very weak and can be dismissed within seconds. Remembering how hard of a time I had quitting, no way I'm gonna let a small meaningless stupid craving get me back into it. Now I'm officially a non-smoker, and I'm trying like hell from turning into one of those annoying non-smokers too. I can't stand the smell when someone smokes around me. I chokes and gags me. I can't breathe. Coming out of a bar my clothes smell like an ashtray, and it makes me nauseous. So I'm glad to say that I'll NEVER AGAIN go back to it. Thanks to this forum, I am a walking success story. When I needed support when I was going through a hard time, you guys were here to help. I couldn't have done it without you. Honestly. Thank you Stop Smoking Center. You saved my life. If I can do it, you can too. No more guilt, no more shame. Trust me it's a great feeling.
