Headaches!

17 years ago 0 247 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
tryagain, I know when I chew alot of gum I get real bad headaches. Mayby it's the pressure we are putting on our jaws. I know if I clinch my teeth when I get stressed I'll get headaches also. Mayby try hard candy for awhile. tryagain, Hey...come on, you knew this was going to be tough...you did your homework, Right? When we say Hell week...that's what we are talking about, and it should be coming to a close for you pretty soon if your staying smoke free. the headaches...please drink lots of water before you take that aspirin. Dehydration is one cause for a headache. (I don't want to scare you but my husband almost bled to death from taking an aspirin a day for his heart...what a joke about aspirin being good for your heart..oh yeagh...but not your stomache) and yes...you are going to get extremely angry and want a cigarette sooo bad...."what's wrong with you..." It's not you babe...it's the Addiction. Get control and pray for these days to end...and do not smoke. Get out of the house for a minute and breathe...think of the reasons why you want to be a non-smoker. If you can, just go to bed and sleep (if you sleep..you can't smoke) Each sneak puff you take means more agonizing craves. Each minute you fight against it is one minute closer to being free (really free) You see that meter below...it does not tell my whole story. I'm using Chantix now...to make this my final quit for the rest of my life....I remember my 10-year quit...a cold turkey Quit that I would not wish on my worst enemy. I'm sure many members see my words and are skeptical of my advise to other members or newbies who are quitting...because of the meter below. It has taken me quite awhile to even get the nerve up to try to quit again (because of the fear of that quit so long ago). Because I remember that last quit so well....is why after a month of no smoking..."I KNOW I HAVE IT LICKED" I'm not worrying about will I start again... If anyone is really sincere in wanting to quit...if you can get through 30 days of no smoking..."you are a winner". My coughing stopped after about 3 weeks completely! My constipation is gone as well. I'm sleeping like a baby too. My nerves are much better except when I drink too much coffee. Depression is unclear at this point because of the medication of Chantix...will let you know how I'm doing when the Dr. says I can stop taking it. It's working great for now and I'm not going to upset the apple cart...love to go on and on...but I'm going to wat

I'm not in the medical profession, but I can tell you from my own experience that chewing alot of gum certainly gives me headaches. To chew or NOT to chew..that is the question. :quest: My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,607 Amount Saved: $750 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 21 Mins: 53 Seconds: 32

I don't know if they are from the quit, or from chewing gum all the time. My headaches are getting progressively worse, and more frequent. I'm living on aspirin and getting an upset stomach from them. How long does THIS phase last? This is in phases isn't it? The coughing up junk phase, the nervous angry phase (although that hasn't bothered me yet), the headache phase, the constipation/unruly gas phase, the sleepless phase. What's next! The swinging from the chandalier phase, or the spinning from the ceiling fan phase. So far, not even one sneak puff. I'm using the gum to quit, maybe I'll alternate with a lozenge although I changed from the lozenge because it left white stuff around my mouth and I looked silly. But, it's for a good cause. I'm over the first week so it should be getting better. I've noticed that my morning crave this morning didn't last as long, it was stronger, but it didn't last as long. Night time seems to be the worst. My husband and I quit together, mainly because I could not quit alone. I just could not. This morning he said it was a pleasure waking up and not hearing me struggling to breathe and that made his quit worth it. Although, he's feeling better too and that makes it worth while for me. tryagain. I get really bad migranes. When I quit I had a lot of headaches. As far as the gum goes, you may want to alternate with some hard candy, sugar free mints, or my favorite, peppermint. I would take tylenol PM in the evenings because a lot of sleep helped the headaches as well but I wasn't sleeping well early in the quit. Hang in there. You are going through Hell but you will come out on the other side and you are going to feel so much better. Deep breaths and one step at a time. Think of everything your body is going through as the healing process because that is exactly what you are going through.
