Encouragement for brand new quiters

Hey, thanks everyone for being so supportive. I couldn't have done it without this website and educating myself about nicotine. I do have to give myself a little credit too! As for my reward - I am enjoying watching my money grow. I do want a microdermabrasion kit though. My new healthy looking skin deserves it! Thanks again guys! Lets do a huddle, everyone in the middle - GO FIGHT WIN!

I quit smoking two weeks ago yesterday! Yeah for me! Thought I would share something to encourage people just starting on their quit. I was just outside making a fire since we burn all of our trash. I also used to burn butts and empty packs. Anyway, a few old butts resurfaced and guess what? I threw them right into the fire!!!!! Two weeks ago I would have puffed on any butt around! Today when I saw them not only did they kind of gross me out but I was actually angry at them. They controlled my life for 13 years. They weren't my friend like I thought they were. The moral of the story is, I (and only I) am in control of my life now. I feel it was meant for me to find those butts so I would realize how far I have come in such a short time. There is hope past the first few hours, days, and week!!!!! Anna, what a great post. I hope the newer quitters will read and realize that this IS possible.. Something similar just happened to me a few days ago.. We have had harsh weather and I pulled out this old rain jacket from the closet (couldnt find my umbrella) There was something in the pocket and it was a pack of ciggys and a lighter.. The cigs were in the garbage immediatley (I put the lighter in our box of safety candles) But I thought the same thing, I didnt even think twice, those things went into the trash I thought you disgusting little s@*%ts get outta my here! :eg: Congratulations My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 219 Amount Saved: $105 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 3 Seconds: 3

Anna, Gratzola on your great job! Not that I wanna sound like a damper or a "Butt" head...hehe pardon the pun... but sweetie, we all have to remember that we were in control of our lives before, we have to accept responsibilty for the loser choices that we made. I think that when we accept that WE made the choice to smoke, not the companies, not the butts in the ashtray and not the slim girl walkin down the street.. it was us! We made the choice to smoke or chew... we made the choice to quit! I see it also as we cannot appreciate the good life we have without seeing what a huge mistake we made before. It is all tied together. I applaud you on your awesome work and dedication. I think it is POSITIVELY life changing! RAWK ON! Anna: What a great story! We need those little moments to truly cement our quits. You were perhaps a little surprised by your immediate reaction to the old butts, but I know you were more than pleased by it! Good for you and thanks for sharing. Keep the faith -- and your wonderful quit! Anna, you are made of the strong stuff or maybe it was a struggle to get to that point. Either way, you are hear and considerate to think of others at this point. Proud of you. Congrats on 15 days smoke free, Anna. And you put those smelly old butts right where they belonged, in the fire. This can be tough at times, but the bottom line is this - its nice to be smoke free. Who can argue with that!
