Hi, I see I am not alone. I, too, am on day 10 smoke free, using chantix. I had real trouble with nausea when I got up to the full dose, but finally that passed. I had two very rough days (my first days off work) wanting to smoke, but made it past those. Other than those two days, the medication really seems to take the mental part of quitting and move it to the background. Like others using this medication have said, all of a sudden you think, "Hey, I should be having a cigarette right now." then the thought passes just as quickly. I have a 30 yr. smoking history, about 1 1/2 packs per day for the last 20 years. Have tried patches, gum, cold turkey, Zyban, and always started right back up. this is the best and most hopeful time I have had. Hope you find it works for you, also. Hang in there. Hi all, Can you tell me what Chantix is? never heard of it. By the sounds of it, it works well Am I right? Today I would like a smoke...again. My husband is in the worst mood, now I'm the worst mood, & I want a smoke to cheer me up. When I smoked, I really enjoed them. I wasn't a heavy smoker. I smoked half a pack a day...10-12 ciggs .You would think this would be easy for me, but nooooooooo why would it be.I am on the Ziban, at first the cigarettes tasted awful.Maybe they still do, I don't know, cause i haven't tried. But my friend she said the same thing. so she quit before her due date. After a few weeks , while stiil on the Ziban, she tried a smoke. It was so bad for her, that she threw up.She hasn't smoked since. It's been 7 years for her. If she could quit, anyone could. Her feet were not even out of bed, & she would light one. Good Afternoon: I am still taking Zyban, but my husband started taking Chantix. He is a or should I say WAS a 3 pack a day smoker. This Chantix is working wonders for him. He did get nauseous for the first few days, but it subsided and he gets no side effects now. It's really helping him, he barely gets cravings. I wish my doc would have given it to me too. They call every night at 9pm to do a check in call too. From what I hear, it is only available right now in the States. It cost $120 for a 12 week supply. Good luck to all of you on Chantix. Let's do this together!!!!! I love being smoke free, it's so exciting..just painful at times. Hi Gonnadoit: You know....I went to the Walmart Pharmacy. We have no health insurance and I was looking for the cheapest way to purchase Chantix. Long story short, the pharmacist had asked me if I belonged to Sam's Club. When I said I did, she stated that they take 40-60% off SOME prescriptions for Sam's Business Club Members. Well, of course I handed my card over. Since we have no health coverage, I NEVER buy prescription meds because I can't afford to, but this really worked out for my husband. The bottle of Zyban (30 days I believe) was $45. Like you said, MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than buying smokes. Sorry it cost you so much, but you are 90 days, GOOD FOR YOU. Your quit meter is awesome. Welcome back bog - So glad you are here with your ammo! I haven't tried Chantix...but I've heard tons of good things about it. If I was at the start of my quit today, it would be packed in my set of tools. Right now I'm surviving on green tea and tootsie pops - also F.D.A. approved! Greenette, From the Net: ..."Chantix, a product of Pfizer, was approved by the FDA on May 11, 2006..." I think Chantix is available only in the USA at the moment. Supposed to put down the cigs on day 7 of the meds, however, I tripped up until day 14. Just said "NO MORE" and here I am. They have a website that you can check in with, no support group like here, but it gives you some additional information on the drug itself and its use. Pretty informative website though. I have been hesitant to post so I won't jinx me. I started on the Chantix 11/13/06 and am now 10 days totally smoke free. Feeling good and cravings aren't bad. Mostly just a passing thought, like "OH I should be having a cig right now", but they move on quickly. I even went out Fri and Sat and did not smoke. I have spent the past year quit, not, quit, not etc.....so this is a great start. I hope that this med works for you as it seems to be doing for me. Good luck!!!
