Just thinking

Hi Sparky, I too quit on 11/7, so I'm right there with you. Great to hear your thoughts, because we are all thinking and struggling with the same issues. This is my 5th time trying to quit (1st time with the help of this web site), and it's not always easy...remember your reasons for quitting and the things you like about being quit. That helps me through some of the cravings. I focus hard on that and remind myself of the reasons I am quitting. I don't want to die of lung cancer, I want to be like the old lady in titantic...die a very old lady, warm in a bed somewhere....although I would have not thrown the heart necklace in the ocean... ;), but you get the drift. We are in charge of ourselves, not the cig's. Good for you. That is the attitude you need to get through this roller coaster of a ride as well as knocking the NICODEMON down for good. It was different for me this time around too. It was like I flipped a switch in my head that didn't allow smoking to be an option anymore. Best of luck to you!! Come here often as it truly does help us all get through. Stay strong. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I am closing in on another week one again and thinking what is different this time. Finally the insanity has cleared. I know that I can not keep doing what I was doing in the past and expect different results. I can no longer play games with my quit. I can not have one puff, one cig or one pack and expect things to be different. What has become clear to me is whatever is going on in my life smoking will not change it. Life is going to happen regardless wether I smoke or not. GOT IT!!! :eg: So now when there is a crave I hug myself and tell me that I deserve to be smoke free and nic you go striaght to h@ll. It is so much easier. The chatter goes away much faster now. I know I am only on day 6 and I know there are going to hard times down the road. But this time I am in control and not the crave. I hope this make some sense. Thanks for listening (reading ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 66 Amount Saved: $18 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 4 Seconds: 1

Sparky,
I can not have one puff, one cig or one pack and expect things to be different. What has become clear to me is whatever is going on in my life smoking will not change it. Life is going to happen regardless wether I smoke or not.
This kind of thinking is the difference between "trying" to quit smoking and quitting smoking. Congratulations. You now know what it takes. Keep N.O.P.E. tucked away with you everywhere you go. It may only be on day 6 but you have come a very long way.
