Hi Erika and Welcome!
Your determination to quit MUST be stronger than your desire to smoke. You sound like you have the determination, you have done your preparation, and have set your quit date. Cutting back can do 2 things, it shows you that you can and will take control of your life back, and it shows you the ones you will have the most trouble with, which will help you prepare for them better when you quit. I also cut back by postponing the morning one, the one after eating, and the one after ... (maybe I better not say it in front of the children?); I quit smoking in the car entirely, I quit smoking with coffee, and I moved all the smoking stuff outside so that there was nothing in the house to associate smoking with.
I smoked for more than 40 years so I know that it CAN be done. You can do it too. We're here for you.
