Listen Up Everybody using the NRT's (Gum, lozenges,Patch...nicotine based) You are still addicted to the nicotine....'give it up!! or...Try the Chantix...sooooo much easier...believe us Chantix users! sorry guys...I tried unsuccessfully with the patch, gum and lozenges...and just kept wanting more...so I started thinking..I'll just smoke one or two, and not smoke any more for the day... well it just doesn't cut it, because even if you don't smoke...nicodemon is there in your brain...connecting with the triggers to mask your emotions.............. auntdeb ps...read some more post guys...get into the hard core arrogant people who are trying to tell you like it is... Hi Ex... Tis a real pain...addiction Sorry to disagree with your opinion...but Chantix...is a magic pill that makes you forget to smoke...and then one day...comes along...and you don't have that tongue swelling crave for nicotine. All of those nicotine aides...are just that...NICOTINE and if you have been following the discussions you will hear over and over again...one puff will lead to a whole pack...same thing goes with the patches, losenges, etc...keep using and your still addicted.. Cut down?...hmmmmmmm (I've tried all the nrt's spoken about on this site with no success, I tried Chantix becaude my daughter recommended it and it worked for me) I did quit cold-turkey for 10 years...too....so I know what you're going through... I can tell you this...as hard as it was to quit cold-turkey the first time..."Chantix makes quitting a breeze...just follow directions, and keep coming to this support site for encouragement and constructive criticism...to keep you strong in your commitment to quit" and remember...when quit day arrives...JUST DO IT...DON'T SMOKE Good Luck Ex-Slave.. Hi ex!! I'm also on the lozenges and will be stepping down at the end of next week. I know I'll likey be feeling the effects of it so I've started to use mints and minty gum to sort of fill the void and trick my mouth into thinking it has a lozenge in it. I know that stopping the nicotine completely might be difficult, but not impossible - especially since I used to think that stopping smoking was impossible! But here I am! :) I think the important thing to do is to do what works for you! You'll get there! Keep using the tools that got you where you are - they'll eventually lead you completely out of the forest. Have patience with yourself and put one foot in front of the other. :) Best wishes to ya!! Keep posting and let us know what works for you! Hi! I'm having the same problem. I am chewing a lot of the nicotine gum. My boyfriend has asked me to quit the gum, and I said that I will cut back on it, but am not ready to stop chewing it all together. My quit day was 9/15/06. I hear that there is a homeopathic available to help with the nicotine cravings without actually getting the nicotine. I plan on getting some of this and then quitting the gum. This is such a terrible addiction!!! I have an addictive personality, so this is probably going to take some getting use to, but I vow not to ever smoke another cigarette again! If anyone else has been in this situation, and has some helpful suggestions, I will embrace them with open arms :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 131 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,971 Amount Saved: $524 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 17 Mins: 29 Seconds: 4

Hi ex-slave, I'm happy to know that you are now nicotine-free! Congratulations! :) All quits are different, and each one of us has our own way to quit smoking. This is my fifth major quit in 35 years of smoking, and I'm not in a hurry to throw away my NRT aids. I will do it when I'm ready, but not now! I prefer a patient, gradual and gentle approach to my quit! :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 171 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,710 Amount Saved: $855 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 12 Mins: 2 Seconds: 6

* You're right, Ex-Slave. Nicotine is addictive. However, the level of addiction varies from person to person. Each quitter must decide on the best way to deal with it. In my case, at this stage, I'm not concerned of any addiction to NRTs. My main concern now is to protect my quit, against any craving/desire to smoke again! :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 171 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,719 Amount Saved: $855 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 15 Mins: 52 Seconds: 12

Hi, I quit smoking with the help of 2 types of NRT: inhaler & lozenges. This is my fifth month smoke-free. I don't use lozenges anymore, but still have one or two puffs from the NRT inhaler when needed. In the last 4 or 5 weeks, during my overseas trip, I used only 1 cartridge per week. Someone might say that perhaps I should stop using that NRT inhaler. However, I still feel I am not in a hurry to throw it away. I still like to keep both the inhaler and the lozenges, just in case I need them! :) Well, my friends, one should find the best way to quit smoking, and this is my own way! :) Cheers, nmc
