quitting the lozenges AGAIN...tough time

Hey Ex-slave, your are doing so good so far. You just need to get through one final big push. Yeah like you have come this far and this is the last big hurdle. The nicotine will leave your system and then you can get on with your life. I am rooting for you....sending you the strongest "quitters vibes" available! I have been smoking for 35 years, and this is my 5th quit! This time, I use NRT inhaler and NRT lozenges (2 mg). I cut the lozenge into 4 pieces, and use a small pieces only when the craving is too strong to bear! So far, after 12 weeks, I used only 8 lozenges. And I have cut down to only 1 cartridge of the NRT inhaler per day. However, based on the experience of my previous quits (and failures), I still need those NRT aids as the last lines of defence when the cravings become too strong to bear! I would not throw them away, not at this stage, when I have to protect my quit. Even after 12 weeks, I'm still not confident to go alone, without those NRT aids! :) Be patient and be kind to our body are the key of quitting (I think!). Hi ex I am not sure about NRT I have quit for over 100 days with patches and now gum but dont know how it would have been without it.I do know that I have had the worst 100 days of my life and overall it has been hell.I swear not one puff! Suddenly this morning I feel good no patches no gum no cravings ..... Lets hope this is the worst behind me! I had smoked for 50 years and the most interesting place I got some advice was from a Pharmacist in Spain who asked how it was going when I bought some patches and when I said hell he said it will be very difficult after 50 years but you can do it I can see it in your eyes SCARY! But he was right! I know what you mean. Panic took a hold of me everytime I got down to the lowest patch and I would fail---it was psychological. Dr. put me on Chantix and today I am 11 days nicotine-free OMG!!!!! First time I have been without some form of nicotine in 34 years! I know it is in my head, but it is exactly what I needed at the time... Hi everyone, I have been using NRT in all the different forms for over a year now..started with the gum, switched to the patch, switched to the lozenges. Well, I have quit the 2 mg lozenges today AGAIN. I was using about 3-4 a day. I am having a little "fear" crop up in my brain because I don't have any lozenges. I want to get the nicotine out of my body and get on with my life without any NRT. But, those cravings sneak up on me and I loose control sometimes. I have been feeling really in control for the last 2 months; but now with no lozenges, I am a little shakey. thanks everyone, I went and bought some more 2mg lozenges today. I am going to start cutting them in quarters like no more cig has suggested. Then I will be able to only use one or two a day. I know that this is mostly psycological. Before I relapsed on Sept 11, when my daughter moved to New York, I had been off of all NRT for over a month. I was just starting to feel better, freer, more confident. So, I know that I can do this again. I just feel like I have taken a step backwards. But, I am truly thankful that I am not smoking. My roommate says that he is going to quit smoking this week. That will be another plus in my journey. I won't have to be aware of him out on the patio smoking anymore. Gosh, congratulations, Phil! after 50 years you are truly on your way to freedom..no NRT. I am so proud of you. Please keep me posted on how you are feeling in the upcoming weeks. And you too, gonnadoit, RUNNING NAKED, (as Katy says). congratulations. I know Moqueen. I need to make that one final push. I was sooooo close when I smoked those cigs in September..stupid mistake. But, I am on my way again. After this box is gone, I am going for it; maybe sooner. I am off to Mexico on Friday-Monday to lay on the beach. I'll check in Friday am before I leave. smoke free--yipee! ex, Substitute those lozenges for something else. Try writing in a journal, chewing regular gum or hard candy. Snack on veggies, exercise, stretch or walk. You are doing well with your journey and you will be ok! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
