Still Here

18 years ago 0 9 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I'm still here, I just don't get the opportunity to post much. Between normal Mommy duties, plus pregnancy/doctor visits/nesting/etc, plus Christmas stuff, phew...Busy me! Happy to report, still no cravings. I didn't use NRTs, I chewed normal, sugar-free gum after meals for the first week-and-a-half, but haven't done that since. I'm still amazed myself how I've had absolutely no cravings for a cigarette. I still have the occasional morning where I wake up and my throat feels like I've smoked 2 packs in my sleep, but it's getting better. I can't even stand the smell of cigarette smoke anymore, it makes me sick. I gave up all soda & caffeine at the same time, since they went hand-in-hand for me, and I haven't craved that either. My family has become more supportive than I could have hoped for. My husband no longer smokes at home (he doesn't want to go outside and smoke, so he just doesn't), only at work. He has stopped smoking in the car as well. My parents, sister and brother-in-law go outside if they want to smoke now...even when I'm at THEIR houses! I got my one month reward about a week after the fact, but it was worth it. It wasn't the professional foot massage & pedicure ($30 or so) I'd initially thought about. It was better...partly because my husband remembered me talking about the reward, and took it upon himself to pick one out for me. He did a superb job! He came home from work and waited until the kids went to bed, then announced he had a surprise for me. Out to the truck he went, and came back in with this gorgeous wall-mountable stereo I'd been drooling over for more than a year, and the deluxe edition (CD & DVD) album from my favorite band, which I'd told him I wanted when it came out a few weeks earlier, but thought he'd forgotten. Happy Holidays, whichever you personally celebrate, and have a safe and Happy New Year. Blessings. Oh absolutely, I always keep gum handy. I've got a bag of gum tucked away in my cabinet, and several pieces in a pocket in my diaper-bag, just in case. I'm going to go have a nice soak in the tub, and then go to bed. It's been an exceedingly long and tiring couple of days. Blessings all. Whew, you certainly ARE busy! Good to hear from you, and I'm very glad you are not having any cravings! Keep some gum or something handy just in case, though, ok? You never can tell! And boy scouts had it right, always be prepared! Congratulations! You sooo deserve the freedom!
