On this journey, I have learned so much. One interesting revelation I had the other day were the words my husband once said to me.
I was in labor with my daughter...first experience at having a baby. Well they had to induce, and to make a long story short, I had an epidural to help make me comfortable during contractions (it was an all day labor thingy). Well, as I progressed, the pains kept getting worse, and I would hit the button for my "friend" the nurse to give me more medicine in my epidural...this went on for a couple of hours...til one time, my "friend" the nurse came in at my button call and told me she couldn't give me anymore med's cause I was maxed out already.......OMG
I turned to my husband with this panicked look on my face.....and I said.."but I can feel the PAIN!!!"...he looked at me sweetly and said. Kim, this is not a Pain free Experience. The epidural was there to help me through this traumatic and exciting experience to give birth to a new life.
Quitting smoking is not going to be a pain free experience my friends. We are so excited, and nervous and yes, sometimes in pain. All of our coping mechanisms and NRT's are to help us along the way, but there is still going to be those moments when we are going to want an epidural...(wouldn't that be great).
The end of this experience is also worth the pain. Being smoke free is the rebirth of ourselves and our health.
Hope this helps....
