Holy schlamoley did I have a whizz bang weird lunch break today. Here I've been for two days, morning tea - no urge to smoke, dinner - no urge to smoke, hell even the walk to the train was urge free. What completely knocked me for six was the shopping trip!
I was after a reward for my quit, and as I walked from work to the department store, I must've looked down every street and thought 'If I go that way, I can finish a smoke before...HEY! NO WAY CHICKEE! YOU QUIT YESTERDAY!' Phew, kicked my own ash, success! ;)
So into the store I go and I could smell the perfume counter, the leather handbags, it was AWESOME. I didn't even know that store smelled so good. And then KA-BLAM, every doorway I turned to reminded me of a time that I'd walked through it on other occasions and lit up, or stomped out a smoke seconds before I walked in. I must have thought to light up at least 8, 9 times in a 15 minute stretch. Thing is - I never realized I was smoking all those times, to that extent. Not in the least.
As I walked back to work - reward firmly in hand, mind you :) - all I could think was what a big fat saddo I've been these 20 years.
Never again I tell you.
Anyone else have stories of hidden triggers you weren't even aware of? It was so crazy I'm still a bit horrified!
