Monica, Do whatever your comfortable with. Remember, I went to the 21mg just for New Year's Eve then back down to the 14mg the very next day. I didn't want to take a chance on blowing my quit. When it comes to our quits and the patch...just take your time and be confident when you step down. Know that there may be a little withdrawl symptoms when you do step down, but if your ready mentally, then it's not that bad. You can do it!!!!!! Katy and Kaiti, you're both right! And with the information from the pharmacist I'm going to stay my course on the 14mg until I feel very comfortable with stepping down. And see?? I'm getting ahead of myself because my mind still hasn't registered that I don't have all those quit days anymore. Only going to go with what is now.. I have to keep reminding myself to live in the moment and not get all caught up with the tomorrow's etc. Thanks a lot.. less for me to think about :) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 74 Amount Saved: $27 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 0 Seconds: 59

Josie, I just called my pharmacist, explained my situation re the slip etc and he suggested to remain on the 14 mg for at least 2 weeks since the slip and then decide, if I'm comfortable, to step down to the 7mg. I know I must have sounded really confused in my post.. it's because I am confused. He, the pharmacist said my mind is still in the original quit ..and as so many say here, it's all a mind thing and it truly is just that. Ok.. this Saturday coming up, Jan. 13th I would have been ending my 7mg patch.. but due to my slip and then restart I started up again with the 14mg patch. By Jan. 13th I'll be on the 14mg patch for a full week.. My question now is.. because of the slip should I go at least another week (or maybe 2 weeks) on the 14mg patch? I'm really not feeling confident that this Saturday will cut it and then step down to 7mg. I think I've answered my own post..lol.. I'm going to stick with the 14mg for the rest of this week and continue another week at the same mg. There's no way I want to jeopardize my quit. In some strange way I keep thinking that my stats are higher. So there's my answer..stick with the 14 mg... Monica - You did answer your own post! Definately stay on 14 mgs for another week. My Pharmacist cautioned me about cutting down too quickly (she also suggested that if I feel like I am going to smoke, I should go back up a level) I never had to go back, but I think it helped to know it was an option. The scariest one was that last patch I think....I was ready to come off 7 mgs much earlier but I kept thinking "Wow ... this is it" When I finally stopped, there was hardly any difference. You are doing well...trust your judgement. You have sorted this out for yourself . All I can say is that you wont do any harm by using a stronger patch better than suffering!!! Monica58, Attitude !, Positivity, Anger & enforcement. Direct all these things at your quit. You want to be a non-smoker, you choose to not smoke, It's you're choice to stop living a lifestyle of nicotine dependancy. Keep telling yourself this cos 90% of quitting is in our heads. if you aren't confident then STAY on the present step. Plenty of people have increased the length of the steps....do what makes you comfortable and confident!! this is about quitting....not meeting any time table on getting through the program. the main theme is....smoking is NOT an option....do whatever makes that easiest!! katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1830 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 73,225 Amount Saved: $10431 Life Gained: Days: 241 Hrs: 10 Mins: 11 Seconds: 5

Monica, Take the time to talk to your doctor/pharmacist regarding the patch program. Take it step by step and please let us know how we can help :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
