Hiya Rman,
Smokers who quit before age 50 have half the risk of dying in the next 16 years compared with people who continue to smoke. By age 64, their overall chance of dying is similar to that of people the same age who have never smoked.
Now that's the ULTIMATE birthday gift to ones self. I'm so glad you're feeling the benefits of your quit. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. Your mother is going to be soooo pleased with what you've accomplished. Enjoy your trip. At 47, 50 doesn't sound bad at all... and 60 is sounding younger every day :) Have a great 50th birthday, Phillip!
