ex....you will continue to struggle as long as you continue to give in. and this happens cause we are "addicts"...we may gain control, but we will always be an addict. quitting gets easier as you go, but you can never forget that you are a nicotine addict. that being said..... You have set up junky thinking that having these smokes is helping you to cope. Actually, smoking adds to the stress cause it keeps the junky screaming. At this point you need to trash what cigs you have, put a plan in place of how you are going to deal with the cravings of those 3-4 cigs a day. My advice is to take action when the urges to smoke come. Don't have cigs or other smoking materials handy or in sight. Plan in advance for the times you will be in close proximity of smokes or smokers. You CAN do this cause you already DID get through the beginning. This is a case of letting the junky take over your thinking and that has led to letting him act for you also. YOU need the control....make your first act of defiance to destroy your remaining cigarettes!!! toss all smoking related materials...lighters, ashtrays, etc.....check the car for stray smokes....toss the trash or soak the butts and rip them apart. Go back to the beginning for coping skills....get hard candies and straws ready. Attack this thing just like you were starting over, cause that is the only way you will win at this point. and remember, everything that has happened....all the feelings....the joy or the sadness, the worry and the work, the concern for your child.....ALL of this is the same...smoking or not. smoking didn't change ONE single thing....it only added to your stress and worry. Kick it in the butt right now! grab back the prize of the quit and hang on with a fury. You CAN do this.....think only positive thoughts....forget about slipping up now and concentrate on what is coming.....THE DEATH OF NICODEMON!!! bring him on and let's destroy him!!!!
