Share your "WHY"...

19 years ago 0 962 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
The day of my quit was the day that one of my husband's employee's was diagnosed with tongue cancer. I couldn't think of much worse. So I was ready to quit and stick to it. The why to stay quit has come from my inner self. I feel so much better physically, mentally and emotionally. The nicotine has no hold over my life. That's an awesome feeling! I quit for my health, for the money wasted, for the social stigma, and for the inconvenience of smoking. I also quit so I could survive running a dog agility course. Keep up the great quits, everyone! :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 485 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,711 Amount Saved: $1843 Life Gained: Days: 90 Hrs: 12 Mins: 28 Seconds: 20

My "why" is definitely for my health. Although there are a lot of added bonuses! Okay so I am sitting here thinking, and I just wanted to see what the responses to this post would be. If you couldn't already tell...I do alot of motivational speaking. Everything that we do in life has a "WHY". I am just wondering the different "WHY'S" everyone has. I know all the reasons that we do things are soooo different, but yet so much the same. Please share with everyone what was your "WHY???" to stop smoking, and what is your "WHY???" to stay strong on your quit. This is just a thought provoking question, hope that it is fun!!! I am so excited to see the responses. I love everyones answers here, makes you realize how very much the same we all are...actually I think we are all pretty strong, because change is hard and we have all taken the steps to change our lives and be non-smokers. I love it. My "Why" to quit was I was having asthma and it scared me, and I didn't want my little boy to have a mom who smoked, I love him way to much... My "Why" to forever continue my quit is that I want all my friends to quit too, and they already feel bad about smoking around me...it is great. WOW- Trish, 30 days...big applause for you!!! Thanks everyone for sharing...it motivates me even more to see the reasons that other people have, and it makes me realize that is a reason for me too, even if I never thought about it before!!!
