Butterfly Swimmer, Kudos on a job well done! This is a great post! Many quitters grow on a personal level while adding days to their quit meter. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

thank you Pam...This is gold to me at the moment...I have a very short fuse since quitting & small things set me off more often than not. I was just talking myself out of being such a bad tempered so & so prior to loggin onto this site and theres your post.! its a sign! For the longer term quitters its great to read some relevant stuff to help us along the track. Your wisdom is very much appreciated.

Pam, this is one of the best posts on this board I've seen. Certainly a classic that will be bumped time and time again, long after we've moved on. Thank you. Lizzie,
...a journey of discovery into the unknown world of our subconscious ...
That is the best description of what happens to us all, some more than others of course. Nicotine suppressed and supported us so much for so long that, to some extent, we ceased to be ourselves and became junkie minions to the drug. Now that we're free to be ourselves, we have to learn who we are. Sometimes that can be painful, but the end result is always glorious. Keep up the good quits, everyone! :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 468 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,368 Amount Saved: $1778.4 Life Gained: Days: 87 Hrs: 7 Mins: 53 Seconds: 31

I tried to never smoke around people who didn't... so, boy, could I relate to what you said about reaching for that cigarette as soon as you could...and sometimes even making excuses to leave for it. You brought up some excellent points, Pam. HOWEVER... While I have no intention of smoking... I reserve the right to blame my quit for any weight gain over at the next 10 years :p Good post! Pam, this is one of the best posts I've read in a long time. You've given us all reason to examine ourselves and our blame games.
