This bums me out. It took several things to help me succeed at my quit. The part of the quit Alan Carr gave me was HAPPINESS. I am a happy quitter and not mourning the whole pack of LIES. I just now left a thank you for him at his website and wish I had done so months ago. I know it is very sad. I read his book also, and even though I didn't quit until maybe 2 months after I read it I think it really helped me get ready to quit. Had Enough, Yes he was a smoker. He smoked over 100 cigarettes a day for at least 30 years. He quit when he was 50 and I think he is 73 now. The book helped me realize I was afraid to quit because of the mythical "withdrawal" symptoms that we hear so much about. It also helped me get mad at the corruption & lies that have been fed to us w/a spoon for so long. I know there is a good chance I will die of some form of cancer merely because I'm human & the biological machine is prone to that sort of thing. But in the meantime I'm happy to report that the other miserable side effects of smoking, (the all-nite cough, the chest pains, the smell, the cost, need I go on?,) have completely disappeared & I am holding my head high knowing I no longer have to sneak around trying not to bother the ever-increasing masses of non-smokers. Allen Carr has lived a wonderfully successful life & I thank him. Misty, This probably should be on a different thread; as this one is about the very sad news of a horrible sickness stricking someone who has helped alot of people. I can tell you this...my blood pressure went down 20 points the day after I quit smoking. Mr. Carr has helped perhaps millions of people free themselves of their nicotine addiction. Let us celebrate his achievements. Like the press release said, he has added years to his life by quitting and has used that time to help many, many more free themselves of their nicotine addiction. I hope he is able to finish his book. I certainly would like to read it. Can you imagine helping over 10,000,000 people? That is certainly a life well spent. I pray his final days are productive and easy.
