Did Anyone Else Have Really Bad Physical Withdrawal Symptoms???

18 years ago 0 457 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Yeah - hell week, but this man is really far along in his quit, and i'm afraid that I find myself concerned for him. Unless he is posting in the past tense, I really don't think he should be having heart palpitations anymore. There's really not much that we can't chalk up to withdrawals during the first week, and most of the second week even, but if things last for too long, then there has to come a point when you go to the doctor. Even depression lasting too long after a quit can be a sign of some really serious health problems. My doctor scheduled me a visit for this month just to check up on me when I got into my quit, when I told him that I was quitting. Sometimes things can be unmasked, and sometimes risk factors that were laying there ready to come out any day can come out when you under the stress of quitting. Of course, starting again isn't gonna help any of it now.. just please, please take care of yourself, and if you're still having scarey withdrawal symptoms now, then it's time to see the doctor. If that was a past tense type of post, then let me tell you! OMG! Vomitting, diareah, sweats, hot flashes, bloody nose, bleading ears, sores in my throat, bleading gums, temperature sensativity, all over body aches, strange fevors, bad breath - just to name a few. ooo **nods* I think I remember that, actually. I ended up over at the panic site myself after reading that. I am having the gastrointestinal problems too.. they jsut started recently, and i'm haivng big heartburn issues. I don't know if that's because i've been eating comfort food since I quit, or part of the same thing that gives everyone the gas. I also had hallucinations.. well, I guess hallucinations isn't the right word. I believed things were true that weren't true. Like one night I thought I had bugs in my ears, and my husband was having and afair. I also had a couple mild seizures. I've never been diagnosed with seizure disorder, but have had them before when under severe stress. I was seeing a psychiatrist then, and she thought it was just my nervouse system reacting badly. Might be from the wellbutrin though. BTW.. sorry for calling you a guy up there. i just read your welcome thread. lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,098 Amount Saved: $247 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 16 Mins: 20 Seconds: 9

Hey Mom, I know exactly what you mean by asking
When will i feel normal again
I asked the same question in my first week of my quit. I just wanted for all of the withdrawls to go away. You know what, they did and i feel perfectly normal now. For me, it was a week after my quit when i think the withdrawls subsided then the mind games came in. Thought i was going nuts but its also a part of the withdrawl process. It gets better and better and better :) PrincessC :) x My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 601 Amount Saved: $265.2 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 2 Mins: 27 Seconds: 54

Someone asked me if in the early days of my quit i got tired. Yes i did, but i took it as my bodys way of healing. I was also very jittery, talked really fast and about stupid things (hmm) was also very clingy lol. :p PrincessC :) x My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 557 Amount Saved: $244.8 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 22 Mins: 45 Seconds: 46

I used to laugh at my mum, farting as she went up the stairs. Now, I don't even need stairs. I was in town yesterday shopping, but I had to stay clear of myself. I was constantly on the move. To top it all off, my brain seems to be farting too.. I'm not really here, and I'm dropping stuff, lots of hot air, and I don't make much sense... Another post sure to help many. Thanks stockport. I didn't have a racing pulse or palpitations. If you are using a NRT, you may want to look in to that. Sometimes NRT's can cause that. The sweats and gas ... yes I did have. The gas has just now finally let up some. THANK GOODNESS! LOL! I had headaches, joint aches, gas, nausea, dizziness, felt disconnected from reality, couldn't string 3 words together, paranoia, weepies, sleepies, then insomnia, and that was all just in the first week. Oh, and don't forget hacking up yucky stuff. That's why they call it hell week folks. Our poor bodies really have to go into overdrive to heal after so many years of poisoning. It's very amazing and awe inspiring. When I started to look at it as healing each symptom was much easier to handle. cheers alison :) Kick the Herb to the Kerb My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 81 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,443 Amount Saved: $1012.5 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 12 Mins: 53 Seconds: 59

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

18 years ago 0 8 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi, I preferred to call it Symptoms of recovery rather than withdrawal symptoms. What you have to remember is that cigarettes have taken control of your bodies ability to regulate hormones, minerals and all the other delicate balances that make the himan body work as it should. It's like a car that makes a noise. after a while you stop hearing it (usually by turning the raido up) Well with smoking that's what has happened. Smoking in the begining made your body scream, do not do this, but by smoking another it allowed more hormones into your system that masked it and from then on you didn't hear your body screaming. Or if you did you thought you had an answer for it. Light a cigarette. The really sad part is that if you had just waited about 72 hours you would have naturally returned to normal but instead we chose to delay any these bad feelings by lighting another. After a while it became the normal to be screaming rather than the other way round. In some ways it is like a baby teething. You will notice that they will bite on something hard and cold. It seems to relieve the pain and they stop crying. In fact what they are doing is making the pain worse. It is just that when they stop biting the pain will return to it's orginal level, to the baby it has appeared to have lessened. It hasn't it is eaxctly the same pain, With smoking we did the same. If we did not smoke a delayed chemical reaction would trigger waht appears to be the fight or flight reaction by pumping a hormone called cortisol into our systems. If this reaction is not dealt with in some way it will increase to anxiety and then to fear and then to panic. By lighting a cigarette the nicotine stimulated another hormone called DHEA. Now DHEA is the equivalent of the 'all clear' message to the brain to switch the fight or flight reaction off. This is why we associated relief of stress and anxiety with smoking. However if we didn't smoke we would not have had the delayed reaction in the first place. A bizarre twist really. What we beleived was the cure was in fact the cause in the first place. However it is not until this fact can permiate the subconscious mind can it truly be free from associating smoking with relief. Thanks Ian My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2002 Smoke-Fr
