Congradulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't think of a better day to quit than on July 13, 2006!!! Look forward to the tough days, and, each half hour that you get behind you, be glad, happy, and proud of yourself!!! Remember, tomorrow is the 1st day of your new chapter in life. Check back here often, read in every catagory. There is a lot of wisdom, advice, and some humor. Go ahead and put milestones on your calender, at about 50 days is the cruise, and then at 100 days, it's the beach. I am at the beach (sending this letter to you in a bottle). Reward yourself for your accomplishments, you deserve it!! WEll, gotta go, it's limbo time at the beach, I'll check in on you from time to time, and don't be afraid to ask questions. as far as the IM, I am no expert, I just downloaded it the other day, It is a icon on my desktop, all I do is click it, it pops up, then I enter my log in, and ....that's as far as I have gotten, I don't think too many people use it, maybe we can start a new trend. Sorry, I tend to ramble. YOU CAN DO THIS, IT'S GONNA BE GREAT!!!!! CJ *hugz* Some of our fellow members spent their entire first day here at the SSC. If you can do that I think it would be a great place to be. The strength you need is within you and we will help you tap into it. Quitting smoking is a blessing. Smoking addiction is the curse. You can do it and we'll all do everything we can to help make it happen. Remember NOPE and remember this: 20 minutes after quitting: Your heart rate drops. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1988, pp. 39, 202) 12 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1988, p. 202) 2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, pp.193,194,196,285,323) 1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, pp. 285-287, 304) 1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, p. vi) 5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5-15 years after quitting. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, p. vi) 10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker's. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas decrease. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, pp. vi, 131, 148, 152, 155, 164,166) 15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker's. (US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, p. vi) All the best~ N2k p.s. I saw your ? on the other thread but I don't have the SSC IM My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 326 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,193 Amount Saved: $1630 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 0 Mins: 45 Seconds: 6
