I'm going to pull a Clinton here and ask "How do you define quit?"
If you mean any feeble attempt to cut back, or slow down, then I don't think there's enough space on the SSC's server hard drive to hold the number, LOL.
If you mean attempts that started with good intentions and a true desire to not smoke anymore, then the answer is 3. Once when I was 18 that lasted about a week, once about 26 years ago that lasted just a couple of hours, and this one.
The first one would have probably stuck, except I ran into an old friend who had just broken up with her boyfriend. She smoked and I was hoping to get lucky, so I bummed from her just to boost the companionship factor. I lost out on all counts that night.
The second one, we were camping and hadn't known each other very long. I guess I started acting odd, so she drove me to a nearby store and bought a pack just to get me back to normal. I think she was afraid I'd turn into an axe murderer, or something. Since I was actually quitting for her, and she wanted me to start back, and I was beginning to really crave (so I thought, lol) I went with it. She's kicked herself over that ever since.
This one I quit because I wanted to, because I was just sick and fed up with smoking and me smoking. I was so disgusted with it, I had no other option but to quit.
Hey, lashes! I just noticed your at the end of heck week!
