Starting Again

There is no such thing as failure. Only learning experiences. You fell off but at least you got back on. WELL DONE!! You know some people wait years to restart their quit, you got right back on with it. Personally I think that is admirable. I am sure now that you have to go back to day 1 of your quit again, next time you might think twice before being tempted. Thanks so much Niks and Nascar. I feel SOOOOOOOOOOO much better about everything now that I have restarted my meter/my quit. I was feeling like a hypocrite spewing advice and not taking it myself. Hello Everyone. As some of you may or may not know I had a slip on Monday night. I went to a party at my husbands work, had too many glasses of wine and had a cigarette. I have learned a POWERFUL lesson from that mistake. Drinking = smoking. I was not prepared and it happened. I have been very hard on myself the last two days, and have been unable to post words of encouragement because I was feeling a bit like a hypocrite - telling others they could do it when I in fact had slipped. I had also been struggling as to whether or not I should restart my meter. I have come to the conclusion that I must restart it. Not restarting it to me feels like a lie. I need to start over. RIght Now. Here Iam. Day 2!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 98 days until the beach!!!! WOOHOO you go!!! I knew you would get back up and keep going. Just think, that time you had smoke free before your slip will always be there to remind you how bad you want to quit! Know what I mean? I quit in April fir 3 days and then slipped. It may not be 6 weeks but that slip made me realize that I wanted to quit so badly. Once I started my 2nd quit (this one) I kicked myself thinking that I should already be a month quit BUT I SMOKED!!!!!!! See, so now that is my huge motivation factor...I will never give up my quit because I can't look back and say...I should have, would have, or could have!!! Hang in, you already know you can do it!!!!!! Skidoo- I must say your post should make you so proud...you must be true to yourself in this experience, I think. You know, that stupid meter has kept me quit more times than I can count. It's just a symbol, but, it's a big one to me. Now you know what to expect....go for it! Skidoo1967, Glad to see that you got right back up again. That Nicodemon sure can hit hard and leave alot of nasty feelings behind. Don't let him knock you down again. Lots of folks here have learned the hard way that alcohol and friends can be two of the strongest punches in Nic's arsenal. Some times you have to do without them until you get a solid quit and a plan under your feet. So work on the plan now. And stay away from the alcohol for a while.
