Dear Niks Congratulations on 5 big days! That is FANTASTIC!! What you are feeling is very much like what most of us felt the very first weekend we were nonsmokers. I actually avoided bars for about 6 weeks and then I did not drink alcohol for 3 months. I was afraid to let my guard down. I did'nt think I could handle the temptations. Once I was more comfortable in the quit, I did start going to the bars with my friends again. What you are feeling is normal. Also like Rusty said.....don't listen to the NICODEMON! The demon will try to start a fight with your boyfriend to try and give you an excuse to smoke. Don't fall into that demons nasty little TRAP. You are almost through HELL week. The worst part of kicking this addiction to the curb. Keep up the great work. Wondering....sounds like you like biking. Do you want to loose that? Keep smoking and you won't have the lungs to peddle. Plus nothing looks crazier then a sports like person on a bike smoking. That is like seeing a cat with a cigarette! LOL. And even if you wait til you are not peddling to smoke.....don't you feel untrue to your sport? I am a swimmer and I feel so much "truer" to my sport now being a nonsmoker. Nik, soon HELL week will be over. You can get through this weekend. Concentrate on 5 minutes at a time, because we can get through 5 minutes. Take deep breaths, Chew on a straw or a cinnamon stick. Stay Close by to SSC and Don't Smoke. Lord knows that we all have our very sensitive days in the beginning. I remember posting how I was feeling one night and getting jumped on by another member for talking about him. All that to say that we know what you are going through right now. Hell week is not fun. It isn't meant to be. You do what you need to do to get through. But please don't try to be a weekend smoker. As you said, you have done that in the past...but your still here trying to be a full time non-smoker. We want to help, but you need to admit to yourself that you can't be a part time smoker. So far you are doing great and you had a great success to go through such a strong temptation at this point. You just keep going with your quit. We are still here. Just have a little patience with us, and you can make it through this also. Hey Niks - Get a grip on yourself. This smoke on the weekend stuff is going to undermine you. Get it into your head that you cannot do that, then don't. I had trouble with weekends when I first started. The junkie in my head said exactly what yours is saying. Go ahead, it's okay, you'll quit again Monday.... What a load of rotting crap. DON'T LISTEN - and find your inner strength. You can do this niks... NIKS NIXES NIC! niks, I'm very sorry. I completely misinterpreted what you were saying. My bad. But I would sure hate to think that you would give up your quit because someone upset you. As I always say, don't let any person, feeling or circumstance come between you and your quit. That includes me, obviously. lol Rusty My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 551 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,446 Amount Saved: $1928.5 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 21 Mins: 8 Seconds: 58

How do you get your head around it? You just say "No. I'm not going to throw away these 5 days that I've worked so hard." I think your attitude needs spiffing up. You ate some pizza, but oh well you'll get fat and that will be your reward? Please. You're allowing your junkie brain to take over. Who's in charge here?
