30 days quit with one slip.I made a list of the pros and cons of smoking vs nonsmoking. The pros for quitting was a real long list while there were no pros on my continuing to smoking list.I tried to say stress reliever on the pros for smoking, but I came to see that was a lie.I'd still have the same problem or stresser whether I did or didn't smoke.Hmmm.I had to have one to ponder this new 'insight'!Didn't help a bit.If anything,it created some guilt, self beating, dissappointment in myself-another con.I realized how tricky this addiction was.Another pro!Recognizing how my self talk could sway me one way or the other.I decided to use thought stopping. When I tried to argue with myself or justify having just'one'again,I said STOP!Don't even go there. There is just NO pro to doing it.End of subject! That in combination with the patches is working. Thanks to the support sites that have told me a slip is not failure, but an opportunity to learn what you did wrong.I sure did. That pulled me thru.I have saved approx $250.Hubby has too.We intend to reward ourselves with a big screen TV for completing the full 10 week program. We will have saved that much.Either one goes off the program and the whole deal is off until we get that far! That keeps us supporting each other, telling the other you can make it,don't give up or we go back to scratch! Thanks, hope this helps just one person....
