well well The beginning of day 14..and I really want a cig

18 years ago 0 164 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Yes I find myself wanting a cig... I have read post and I see one of our members gave in and I hope they get back on the wagon...to freedom I really do... I went to Kmart yesterday and when i stepped outside this man was taking his last draw from his cig before he threw it down..wow .. the smoke came my way..and i can't lie...it did smell good..cause i was craving yesterday also really bad...but the smoke got me very dizzy..and i wobbled my butt to my car as i felt the high of the nicotine and second hand smoke... I begin thinking this morning and I saw a friend of mine who was online and I said to him .. I want to go and should go get me a pack of cigs...he said .. loudly ... HELL NO...and I told him what's the point .. i can't wear any of my clothes even though i been exercising .. he said .. have your breast got big .. i said yes why .. he than licked out his tongue.. with his crazy self.. i laughed..and than the phone rang.. and it was another friend i complained too and he said take a look at yourself in the mirror..and say now how would you look with 15 more lbs on you... he said that is what would happen if you weren't doing the exercise.. he also reminded me that cig's were a part of my everyday life...and i'm still in the early stages and the urge will never leave it will always be there ..but you yourself need to remain and be strong.. I am human .. i crave..yes i do ..and i want .. yes i do ..but one thing that scares me the most is going through the withdrawls all over again...even though i didn't come here with my intention to go get a pack..i still had friends in place non-smokers of course who were there to support me and i'm so grateful and thanksful ..for everyone here and all of those that are in my life... P.Loving P.S. just wishing there was something that can help me with this crave shesh... I was out last night and SO wanted to smoke. i was in a club drinking celebrating everyone was smoking. You just have to tell yourself that if you do smoke, then it isnt just smoking a cigarette for today its your decision to smoke all day every day again. That should take away some of it.. also tell yourself that if you still really want to smoke tomorrow then you can. Tomorrow you probably wont want to, and will be proud of yourself that you didnt smoke today. That will reinforce your quit. Keep going, if you smoke you go back to day one.. and that isnt great. You are doing well, stick with it. It will be worth it. Yes loving, I had some feelings about having a june-bug give in too. I was very disappointed. but we can't allow that to enter our minds. We are strong june-bugs and won't ever fly into the fire. I love that your posts even in the middle of craving are getting so much calmer and rational. Have you noticed that? Do a search on yourself and read. I know that you are doing better, even though it may not feel like it sometimes, and I know you are going to make it. I never want to go through week one ever ever again and I know you don't either. That is one thing that can keep us strong. Loving, Keep persevering! Try revisiting the reasons and benefits of your quit, keep distracting yourself and reward yourself for not giving into temptation. Start quit journal. It will keep you busy and you could fill it posts, quotes and lists that inspire and motivate you to stay strong. It would allow you to look back at the progress your making each and every day. Almost two weeks under your belt, be proud of that accomplishment! Keep us posted, Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Good Morning Loving, Glad to hear that your day started out so well. And what a great group of friends you have who know you so well. While you are there today, dig a little deeper into the back threads and count how many were still having cravings at this point. Then jump ahead two weeks and see what the topics were then. This is the point where the psychological game kicks in hard. One of the tricks for me was to acknowledge the craving, but not give it any strength. Like "Oh, look I am craving a cig, NO! I am not going to have one. There is not going to be another EVER." I found that if I gave thought to giving in, then the craves became more frequent and stronger. But when I put my foot down on them and then changed what I was doing, it did not take long for them to get the message that it was time to give up. So give it a try, with all your heart and mind. For as long as you toy with the idea that you might someday give in and smoke again, then your mind will not believe that you won't smoke and it will keep sending out the " I want a smoke" tantrums. You just keep on the right road, your making it one day at a time.
