How are you going on those patches Mama? Are things better? Has your daughter quit yet?

You know what i find mad, is the smell of smokers. Earlier I had a rough time of it, so i went to the corner shop. In there at the counter were some guys and they STANK of not just tobacco but the chemicals from cigarettes. I could smell the chemicals. How strange is that? I just thought my god i am glad I dont smell like that anymore. its 10 days for me, I am just starting to get my airways cleared a bit, and can breath... I look forward to smelling new 'nice' smells like Pizza...

Sounds like a tough one that you have there mama, (with the cigarettes lying around) i would find that tough. Glad to hear that the patches are working, and that you are finding it a little easier. You are doing so well, i remember how you were posting just before your last slip, and you seem so much stronger now. I KNOW you are going to do it this time! Thats me and you together girl!

I'm just curious. When it comes to food, if you like the taste of something are you always supposed to like the smell of it, or can something smell bad to you but taste good? i think the strenth of the smells are getting to me and nothing smells "good" yet. Maybe after a while, i will be able to tell if i like something or not, right now, i think it just surprizes me. Niks, I feel much better on the patches! My doctor gave me the presciption for Wellbutrin and I started it this morning. They should be in full effect by the time I have to step down on the patches. I do think that I am going to make it this time! My daughter still has some cigs left and I accidentally walked in on her smoking last night! She only smokes a little of each one because they are too harsh and menthol for her. Then she leaves the rest in an ashtray either in her room or outside on our patio. I've yelled at her time and time again about it but she just won't listen. She says that she is going to quit when she is out but it may take a real long time. She bought this carton on June 1st and she still has 3 packs left. Anyways, when I am on the patch, those unsmoked cigs don't scream my name anymore but they do still wisper. I have to ignore them from afar. I am feeling much better although my sence of pride is not as good knowing that I am still using nicotine in my body. I wish I could go cold turkey but I just don't think I am cut out for that. Or like the doc said, there are alot of chemical changes happening to me all at once. (perimenopause, losing a lot of weight and quiting smoking all at the same time). Anyways, thank you so much for asking niks, that makes me feel so special that you remembered! Hey, this is kind of funny. I have a sence of smell for the first time in 30 years! Thing is, I don't know what any smell is because I havn't smelled anything in so long! I smell lots of stuff, especially driving around in Houston, What is it? I don't know. I don't even know if a smell is supposed to be good or bad. Last night my son was heating up a snack in the microwave and I could smell it so strong I yelled "what are you doing, what is that smell?" and he said it was fried chicken. That is supposed to smell good isn't it? I have smelled a lot of things, but I am yet to recognize any smell and be able tell what it is. After a little while the smells stopped being so overwhelming. The sense of smell thing ... I totally know where you are coming from. I went through that too. Sometimes all the new smells were overwhelming like when I was pregnant.
