Stress Management 101 Pass or Fail

17 years ago 0 3368 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Glad to hear you are breathing easier. Another thing I thought of, don't know if this would apply, but sometimes when we are feeling stress and/or anxiety ... our chest can feel tight. I would describe it like 'an elephant standing on my chest'. Anyway I have had that feeling before, I don't know if you have, but relaxation techniques help with 'that' feeling as well. Have a great weekend. Hi Riv - Thanks for such a brave post. FALL IN LOVE with your new life and your new body. Yes, it is taking it's own sweet time to recover but maybe your body is making sure that it is doing a wonderful job. FALL IN LOVE with your amazing quit stats, your swimming score card, your great cooking and entertaining, your meltingly delicious pies. ;) Riv, your mind is remembering a mirage, a fictional non-realty. It doesn't exist - this calmness that your mind remembers as cigarettes. You aren't an addict anymore - if you put smoke into your shiny new body you would probably throw up which is never very relaxing!! I'm glad when you post about your frustrations. It lets all of us know that bad days still happen to non-smokers - and we STILL DON'T SMOKE!! (Especially as I know that in 3 hours you might be happy again - oh mercurial one!) The RDMan is kicking it - right into 7 months. cheers x alison :) Life. Be in it. Know where you are at. There is a lot of chatter going on in my head this morning. Glad you posted. I will breath in and breath out :) You have been a great help to me, and I know you won't smoke but is a little scary. My goal today is to stay smoke free. Simple solve your breathing problems by moving to Sacramento the low humidity city. Sure it gets 110 sometimes but the humidity is almost always very low. I know that exact feelong. I associate that with panic which sets in when I can't get the breath all the way in. I take in a breath , don't let all out take in another breath and then slowly with lips pressed togethr let it out. Helps to aleaviate the panic, and slows me down and maximizes what I do get in. I will be having more function tests next week and I will get to know more. Right now what it seems is a bronchial problem. The little receptors are not opening enough and this seems to be triggered in damp weather. Time to go to the desert for a while. Any room? :) Thanks FREE glad you are around. The breath work helps with my own sense of panic, stops me from hyperventilating and getting light headed or dizzy. The breath work grounds me. Very much like with asthma there is some breath work taught. They have not said that this is asthma and it feels very similar to the early spring when I had a bronchial infection. I will know more next week when they will have more results. The bronchial receptors are scarred and scar tissue will eventually get more supple and I will wait patiently. I have never heard of moving to a more humid environment to breath better. Although like I said earlier, in hospitals oxygen is sometimes given in a mist. Looking forward to warm sunny weather later today. FREE Possible the bronchial receptors are scarred from smoking, I know this from the past testing. Scar tissue is less flexible than nonscar tissue. I know that thing about the doctors not knowing as they simply can not really see inside my lungs. The best has been the breathing lessons. There is a stockport post that is fantastic. I don't know about dampness. I do know that often breathing through a mask is done with humidity. Thanks for all of your concern and support. I have spent the better part of the last two days working with my doctor and at a clinic trying to figure out why I can't breath. The weather is very humid, almost steamy, very damp, misty in the mornings, a bit of rain and just drippy damp. Breathing, I am having to learn all over to accomodate the humidity. It is intersesting because the same thing happened to me earlier in the summer. This is I am sure a seasonal thing. My body remembers how poorly it breathed when I smoked and figures that is what is up know. My mind thinks oh he's struggling to breath all the way in he must be on the way to lighting up. My mind and body are remembering old ways and old patterns. Got some swell new breathing routines and some good tips about how to be in humidity. I feel best when I get inside, turn on every dehumidification and air conditioning and cleaning device and hunker down. So there is a reason for the stress, a reason for the fatigue and a reason for the smoking memories, the craving triggers that seemed to be building for days. Looking forward to tomorrow when it is supposed to clearup and the air get better. Hope it does. Cheers Good night all Free thank you for your wonderful and oh so caring reply. Everything is in the breath! :8|: My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 210 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,200 Amount Saved: $1575 Life Gained: Days: 34 Hrs: 5 Mins: 20 Seconds: 23

Marie, thanks for asking. I have a chest infection. Taking a high power antibiotic. The stress I go thorough about what might be a simple medical thing is simply stress. I have felt great all week doing two new volunteer gigs, one at a hospice and the other at a social service agency. That in addition to regular work, and the two other volunteer positions I maintain have filled in a week. I have booked Venice for Christmas and planning Paris in May and San Francisco in the fall both for swimming. Hooray. 2 weeks ago I posted the fastest breast stroke my age group at the club I belong to. That felt good. All of the extra work keeps me distracted from health concerns and focused on living.
