I quit on July 12. I am 34, have been smoking on and off for approx 14 years (makes me cringe when i see exactly how long). Im divorced (ex was a heavy smoker)and I live with my 27 y/o nephew (non smoker) & his 24 y/o girlfriend (smoker).
The differnce between this quit and my last... this site all the support you give, reading posts. I find that whenever i get the urge i come here and read posts or post. The old "junkie" me would have said i am giving up coz my finace doesnt smoke or but thats not true and it provided a loop hole in my train of thought to make it ok that i smoke again. Im quitting coz im tired of looking tired, tired of feeling tired, tired of being breathless, im tired of being dependant on chemicals. I want to be able to start a family in a couple of years and live a long life watch them grow. I choose to live.
Anyway, here's to all the July quitters.

What are you going to do with the money you save?
Im planning on a well deserved trip to be with my partner :) our work is keeping us apart at the moment :( and i found every excuse under the sun as to why i couldnt afford the ticket. Wish i had done this months ago then i would almost be ready to board that plane.
That is incentive enough for me to stick to being a non smoker :)

I was thinking the same Auntie, i havnt seen him in here for a while.
I hope he is ok.
I hope Had Enough is ok as well.
My quit is holding strong. N.O.P.E
Its better to be a non smoker with an occasional craving for a cig than a smoker with the constant desire to quit....
(i love that quote cuddles)

I will join you all! I smoked for 34 or so years, couple packs+ a day. I had never thought about quitting. I knew all the bad about them.....but that was my problem and I was an adult. On July 8th after my morning coffee and smokes, i just didnt smoke. I was shocked at myself!
A week later I knew I had a cig left in my case. Went in and smoked it. :( Had my spell of sadness. Discarded my cig case with a little ceremony :) and havent smoked since.
Its a day by day thing for me. I am very pleased and very cautious.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT,I WOULDNT BE THIS FAR WITHOUT IT!
Oh i am in the midwest, usa. And just began getting my AARP papers in the mail. LOL

Hi all
Glad to report that Ian and I are non-smokers. I never thought that would happen. I've read Allen Carr's book, most of it makes sense, but it hasn't clicked unfortunately! It would be great to have found the easy way.. We both really really miss it, although it's getting better for me. Somehow it's worse for Ian the last few days.
I ordered my treat today, you can wear it round your neck and it's gold (my husband freaks out when he sees the 'jewelry' word). So now I can't go back. Upwards and onwards!
Nice to be part of this group!
Brenda
