Al, I wish you the best of luck. I have had many attempts to quit over the summer, the best being 9 days. I have chosen my quit date as tomorrow, Mon. Sept. 11, and feel quite ready for this. So like you, here's wishing me luck, and I would love to keep tabs on your progress as well. Let me know how you are doing. All the best!!!

Hi AL, how's your first day going? I'm feeling edgy and a little miserable but I'm hangin' in there. Keeping myself busy mostly. Here's wishing you luck. AL, Don't beat yourself up. I have been where you are many times and then some. This is a very tough thing to do and I admire you for even considering to go at it cold turkey. No way I could. Right now I am on the strongest patch there is, and even then when I close my eyes I see cigarettes dancing in my head. I've slept a fair bit the past few days because I just can't keep my eyes open. Maybe giving it a go with your wife and using a patch might help. I quit for 4 months last year with my husband and we both used the patch. His quit stuck, mine didn't. Now I hope it will. So keep posting Al, I know you'll do it! Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 70 Amount Saved: $18 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 6 Seconds: 52

Hi AL, hope you're ready for tomorrow. My first day is OK. I'm using the patch. I couldn't do it without it. This is my first post today, as I was out most of the day. Probably a good thing as it kept my mind off of smoking. I plan to be here much more tomorrow. I find the 3rd and 4th day to be two of the toughest, so I'll be here all day if I have to. Have lots of water handy, AL, and gum and sugar free candies. Deep breathing really helps me a lot. Will you be using the patch, or some other form of NRT?
