Mama,
Nobody's giving up here... especially not you! I know you want this quit, so fight for it! Fight with everything you've got because you're fighting for your LIFE here!!! Isn't that worth it! Don't you deserve a life without stinking, and coughing and wasting your money? Don't you deserve to live longer to be there with your family? YES YOU DO!!!
I agree that it would be great if your daughter quits, but this quit must be for you. It's too easy to give up if the person you quit with gives up, so you have to want this quit badly enough to keep it regardless of whether your daughter quits or stays quit or not. This is YOUR quit.
Have you tried Wellbutrin or Zyban? They are depression medications that have been proven to help people quit smoking, and if depression is a difficult symptom of the quit for you, you might consider talking to your doctor about going on one of these medications.
Mama, the only way to quit is to quit. You cannot smoke and be quit. If you allow yourself to "slip" every now and then, then you are only making it harder on yourself to actually stay quit. The more a person slips, the easier it is for their minds to convince them later that it's OK to smoke. I know... I've been there. It's only when you fully commit to N.O.P.E. that you can quit successfully. You must tell yourself daily "today, I won't smoke" and stick with it. It does get easier after a while, but you have to put in the effort first. Hang in there and don't ever give up on yourself! We won't, so you can't either!!!!!
Crave the Quit!
Pam
