At the Doctor's Office.... Really Didn't know Where to Put This

Jackey - Way to hang tough -- there's a lot of horrific bedside manner out there - but plenty of M.D.'s to choose from. Move forward and be proud of those stats~ CobenFan My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 151 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,583 Amount Saved: $528.5 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 1 Mins: 24 Seconds: 43

Jackey - So Glad to see your post! So Glad to see you! I agree with everyone here - what a stupid thing for that doctor to say...damage is reversible - our lungs and the ability to breathe better is simple proof of that. I am proud of you for walking out...you need to write a letter to the office and be honest about why you did - maybe they will change their tune for the next non-smoker that comes along. Way To Go!! Keep Strong! Absolutely get another Medical Professional! And good for you for simply leaving it to find another professional. Personally been there done that and did not like the tee shirt. Doctors are not authorities, nor are they experts. They are men and women just like us who have paid vast sums of money to go through educational hell. Unfortunately, that does not give them hearts or empathy. Anyone of any profession who treats the customer/client/patient with contempt and discourtesy deserves to be out of business. But you, Jackey. You had a proud moment slapped down by this "person". And you handled it with style and a non-smoker's attitude. Congratulations! :) Get yourself the decent doctor you deserve and keep up the good quit. Hi Jackey... "...the damage is done"??? *gasp* Just a reminder that even after smoking for 20 (30, 40, 50...) and quitting, over time...some damage is completely reversed and most all improves! I'd worry about a doctor that didn't know that. I think I'd been tempted to stick around and educate her *grin* Somewhere there's a physician that will be sincerely interested in your health and the fact that you've quit. And... that's what being a physician is all about. By you walking out, I hope it made her think before she says something like that to another person. I'm glad you didn't let her discourage you. Congrats on a great quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 568 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,371 Amount Saved: $2027.76 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 4 Mins: 49 Seconds: 17

I am so proud of you, Jackey! We don't have to be held hostage to the medical profession when they treat us shabbily. It's a hard lesson to learn for most of us, but once we've done it...look out! Congratulations on your awesome quit. I'm glad you've joined us!
