Hi Pink I think you are doing great...I'm at 5 days too but with the patch. I think if I had already quit for 5 days without it, I would be reluctant to use it. However, I knew that I had to get over my emotional/psycholigical attachment to cigarettes first the patch was for me. I am no Physician so take this with a grain of salt, but I did have a friend who was prescribed a very mild dose of ativan to take on occasion when she was quitting (to help with that anxiety stuff) and it worked for her. She's been a non-smoker for about 3 years now and doesn't need the Ativan anymore. Of course, we're all so different so only you and your Doctor know what is best for you! Keep up the good work! Congrats to you pinktexas. Five days is a huge accomplishment, especially since week 1 is a "rollercoaster" in itself. I've been sad, angry, and yes, crying goes along with that. I've wanted to jump up and down and throw the odd hissy fit, but at least I haven't smoked. So keep up the good work, you're doing great!!!! You can do this!!!! Cry, rant, rave just get it all out!!! Trust me I think we all have been through this...it is normal. I had more of my share of mental break downs. If they get so out of control make sure you contact your Doc or get some help. Do whatever you have to do, just do not smoke for today!!!!! How ya doin' today, PinkTexas? Don't be ashamed to use some NRT if that's what will help you keep your quit. There's plenty of people here that have gone that road -- and it made the difference between success and failure. Hope you're having a GOOD DAY! Pinktexas if you feel this might jeopardize your quit talk to your pharmacist about the lowest patch. But if you feel you can hang in there then do it one day at a time. :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,424 Amount Saved: $376 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 12 Mins: 40 Seconds: 57

You have been 5 days without nicotine. Personally, I would not reintroduce the drug to my body. Nicotine is a stimulant. Drink LOTS of water and flush your system out. CONGRATS on 5 smoke free days. Hell week is almost over. Yeah You!
