Katiequitter! So good to see you again. I didn't think I would make it past day one either but look at us now. We have come so far since last summer. There are times I still struggle as well but I don't think I will ever give in. The freedom is too awesome to give up. I have had the dreams of sneaking and smoking too. Scares me to death. I couldn't imagine starting the quit all over again. Congratulations! That 500 days seemed imposible this time last year. Amazing changes are what we have gone through and now just look at you. Your meter is looking good! I never thought I would make it 1 day,and here I am about to hit 500. I don't miss it, but sometimes I think about it. Sometimes when I am bored, and I have stuffed a bunch of food in my face, and I still feel a void. I always thought it was a cigarette that was missing, but it isnt. It is something inside me that is hollow and empty, and it is not the smoke that is missing, and its not going to be filled by a smoke. I know that now. It is weird. I often dream that I am smoking again, and in my dream I feel so disappointed in myself and regret what I have done, and wish I could take it back, and then I wake up, and for a second I am filled with guilt and disappointment that I will have to start over in my quit... and then it hits me... I DIDN'T really do it.!!! And I am so happy. It is a great feeling to wake up and still be a non smoker. The smell makes me so sick now. When others walk in the room after being outside smoking, and I feel so ill. I cant believe I really thought that I didnt stink like that. I hope that everyone feels the same way I do, and that no one regrets quitting. I can't imagine someone would. I only regret waiting so long. The money wasted, the lies I told myself about loving smoking, the smell, the risk I put my health in.. all for nothing. I am happy to be here today, almost turning 500, and knowing that I will always remain smoke free. Living strong, living long. katie ps... where are the rest of my summer buddies from last year?? still around? Phil. the worst of it was over after 3 days. the first 3 days were by far the worst it gets, so if ya get past that, the rest is a breeze. I would also watch for emotional triggers. Breakups, illness, fear.. those things were hard for me to get through without the "comfort" of my poisonous "friend". ( But I did) Also.. watch the drinking, and the boredom. When I have a drink, I still get the odd craving so I fight it, and when I am out of my mind with boredom.. sadly I turned to food at first, but now I walk, knit, or read. Its been over a year for me now, and there is not one day that goes by where I wish that I was smoking again. Not a day, a minute, or a second. I may have a craving or two every month, but there is no way I would ever smoke again. It just isnt worth it. Congrats to you all, and thanks for all your kind pats on the back, and for those of you just starting out on this road, the journey may be a rocky one, but believe you me, it is SOOOOO worth it. No regrets. Living strong, Living long.
