Hey guys thanks for the fast replys I will try all those tips you guys suggested and you can bet I will be posting and reading these forums through my quiting phase and beyond that. Also their will be these times I will find it the hardest to not have a cig they are when I have a meal, go to a bar with friends and a few of them do smoke but I will tell myself to deny a cig if they offer me one, and also after watching a sporting event such as football or something or just relaxing at home. Those are the times that will be the hardest for me but i'm dedicated to quiting and will refuse any cigs anyone offers me.

I know their will be hard times ahead but i'm ready to face them head on and not lose faith in myself and give back into smoking. If anyone has any advice on exercises or anything I can do to help me through hell week I would greatly appreciate it :) But this board looks like a great place to be and I look forward to meeting the rest of you. A little facts about me i'm from Gold Canyon Arizona, i'm 25 years old, i'm also a huge sports fan.

If you are receptive to excersizing, for me, it is the best thing I can do to help ease through the quitting process. I have been doing 30 minutes of aerobic excersize twice a day since I quit and also lifting weights. I try not to get too carried away with the intensity of the workouts, though. The workouts seem to sort of re-boot my cravings and it's almost like getting some rest when you're tired. Congrats on your decision to quit smoking. Knowledge is power, so get prepared. Get prepared for your mind to deal with emotions without the mask of a drug. Know that the nicotine in cigarettes has caused you to be physically addicted. Take comfort in knowing the physical withdrawal will stop approximately 72 hours if you can resist nicotine products. Be fully aware that your life routine will have to be experienced without smoking cigarettes for you to be quit. So throw them away. Do not save any. What is your routine? When do you smoke? Make a list of your triggers (when you would normally smoke). It is better to think about all of these things ahead of time so that you can go into battle prepared. Replace your bad habit (smoking) with good habits. Read about healthy ways to deal with stress/emotions and start practicing your new coping skills. Get yourself ready physically by walking more, take in more fluids, get plenty of rest and avoid becoming overtired. Tell people around you that youre going to quit. Get yourself a Quit Buddy who will be there to provide you personal quit-smoking help and support. Fight the urge to protect yourself from looking silly if you dont make it all the way. Believe in yourself from the very beginning. Make it come true. If you dont make it this time, what matters is that you get back up and try again. Also, dont forget to make rewards a part of your plan. Quitting takes a lot of work, so you want to make sure you give yourself credit along the way. Keep a list of rewards you look forward to - it will help keep you motivated. Watch out for alcohol, social situations, other smokers, weight gain, and bad moods/depression. These things can make you fall off the Quit Wagon. Like Ive said be prepared for these things. Weve quit. You can too. Well be here to support you if you need us. I look forward to celebrating your milestones with you. Fondly, Free I live in AZ as well. Welcome mjbcards, Great decision! Have you completed the tools on your left??? Make sure you do. Getting prepared............ 1. Get your determination to succeed ~ No matter what. 2. Gather any and all information you could possibly find on this horrible addiction. Read old posts here. Knowledge is power my friend. 3. Put on your happy face. A positive attitude will keep your spirits lifted, and in the long run, ease the challenge of quitting. 4. Create a plan. The tools here can help. You'll need some coping mechanisms, and the more organized and planned as to what you are going to do when a crave hits, makes it managable. 5. Stock up on water. Drink lots. That's it. I used hard candies, water, sleep, and of course the SSC in the early days of my quit. I bought hypnosis cd's, and when a crave came up, I popped on my headphones and laid on the couch, listening to them. It helped me so much. After dinner, I would go for a walk around the block. Glad you came here! I look forward to watching your quit grow! Oh, and one final reminder ~ the one thing that keeps you quit is: N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever Take care. ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 234 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,035 Amount Saved: $765.18 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 20 Mins: 53 Seconds: 9
