Shannon, Think about how upset you will will at yourself if you give in to this addiction! Think about how proud you will be of yourself when you are finally 6 months, 1 year, 2 years quit! Think about how proud your KIDS will be of you! You can do this Shannon! Don't give in! As for your mariage, quitting causes emotional changes... don't do anything right now that you might regret later! Hang in there Shannon! The quit WILL get easier and hopefully, so will your life. Everything happens for a reason. You're doing great! Crave the Quit! Shannon, All I can say is WOW! Any one of those things alone would be tough, but all of them put together at the same time has got to be overwhelming! I really do feel for you! Unfortunately, your husband must quit on his own, on his own terms. It sound to me like he doesn't understand addiction. That's OK! Until I found this site, I didn't either. I thought that I could simply cut back too and stay cut back, but unfortunately, addiction doesn't work that way... it's an all or nothing thing. Perhaps you could direct him to this site? It sounds like maybe he wants to quit, but doesn't know that quitting means N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever and that's the ONLY way to quit! I know that it must be very difficult to be supportive and understanding right now when you're doing something so wonderful for yourself, and your husband isn't helping better your lives, but try. Perhaps, have a heart-to-heart and see how he feels... see if he still does want to quit, and if so, direct him to this site, or tell him about your experiences quitting. I certainly hope the best works out for you! Everything you are going through must be extremely difficult! You must be a very strong person to deal with all of that and quitting too! Hang in there and don't add losing your quit to the list of bad things going on! You're doing a wonderful thing for yourself! Your quit MUST be the most important thing to you! Hang on! I will be praying for you that things get better for you soon! Crave the Quit! There is a lot on your plate, and the fact that you have not smoked is a testament to your strength. I mean, I'm complaining and I don't have three little ones clawing at my apron strings and can't see my shoes. I can run. From what, or where to is a mystery. But still I can. Sometimes we can survive and even flourish by changing our own attitudes. Forgive yourself for not being able to forgive your husband yet and move one to taking care of the children because they can not care for themselves. Ask for help. Is there a granny who'd love to take the children for a while. For just an afternoon. I, too, have been clawing for every minute of recovery this week. It's like someone injected me with nicotine while I was asleep. This is worse than the first week. But I just plan to let myself do whatever I want or feel like I need to do, short of breaking the law. I do notice that I feel better when I take care of myself, which includes my wards--my cat and dog. Hey Shannon, Wish i could give you a huge big hug. You are having a hard time of it all right but honey you need to understand that this situation is only temporary - it will pass. Not only are you pregnant with that little human being growing inside you, your hormones are out of whack, you have quit smoking, your husband has been through a traumatic experience and you have little ones that look to you for guidance. I know that all you want is for your husband to just do this one thing for you... if he just quit smoking it would all be better.... honey this is YOUR quit. You are experiencing a "junkie" thought. Yes things certainly would be easier if he quit, you wouldnt have the constant reminder when he steps out, that junkie in you is trying to justify a reason for you to start smoking again... "the well he wouldnt do it for me so what do i care!" ... you should care, your little ones care, and your husband does care. You remember how hard it was for you to quit right? He has been through a traumatic experience and so have you. Have a chat with your doc on how you are feeling he/she may be able to refer you to a proffesional to talk to to help you get what you need out. As for the little ones, can a family memeber take them to give you a break for a couple of hours each day or a week, just so you can gather your thoughts and get done what needs to be done. Sending you a nice warm big hug. PrincessC :) xx

Hi Shannon, You can be proud at yourself because you have so much going on and you don't give in. Know that good thoughts come your way. Maybe this rose will make it a little easier for you. Love from The Netherlands, Fini. Thank you all for your encouragement and kind words. I have made it another day. I hope I can continue to be strong after the baby is born. Right now that is a big thing for me - "Do it for the baby..." I'm scared...I quit once before for 23 months. I don't want to do that again. My gram is dying of emphysema/cancer, and my 42 year old mother has severe COPD (yet still smokes ). I don't want to do that to my kids. I guess it's just easiest to have someone to blame...and with all that's going on...my husband is it. It is so easy for people to say "Stick together, be there for one another," but that's just one more thing that takes effort. I feel like I'm all 'efforted' out. I just want it all to go away and my life to be normal again. I know smoking wouldn't change what I'm dealing with - it would just be so much easier to give in. But I'm trying, guys. One day at a time, I guess...
