Well done leolibra, no one can steer that ship but you. Mothers can get frustrating but enjoy the thought that you do not have to live with her (I pity my step-father alot!!) Quitting is not easy but sooo worth it. One hour at a time is the way to go in hell week, at the end of each hour it is fantastic to be able to say "who's the boss, me!!" Keep up the good work and maybe in hell week you should tell mom you love her but try to avoid her (just for a while) Keep writing Bonny ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,304 Amount Saved: $832 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 2 Mins: 23 Seconds: 7

Thx all. It's not that I dislike my mother or am constantly fighting with her. It's just sometimes she gets stuck on her idea or ways and it's like she's a child or something. She'll keep on asking qs and bugging me about something even when I've said "enough"!! During that first day of my quit, I guess it just got the best of me since I didnt have nic to help me out. Well, concerning the quit...everything's smooth for now. Will post updates. Thx all...:) Leolibra N.O.P.E. Yesterday morning had to be the absolute worst of my cravings! I think I was handling myself pretty well except when I had to go meet my mother early that morning for some light shopping. For some reason beyond my comprehension, she just kept saying the stupidist things and provoking me to get an attitude. :O It didn't matter what I'd say about a certain thing I liked, she just kept debating me as to why her way of reasoning was justifiable. GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! Anyway, I remained as polite as possible by saying "ok, fine, but that's just how I feel about it." When this 'outing' was finally over, I said 'goodbye' and was on my way home, when suddenly I got to thinking how stressed she always makes me. We've never been really close anyway, but OOH sometimes she just gets under my skin. I've noticed how much more I smoke after she and I have had our disagreements. And yesterday, I was sure looking to have one in the car. The urge was so strong and I could've easily swung by the store, but I resisted. I reminded myself that I was doing this for ME and ME only! That if I don't do it, no one else will do it for me. I was still ruffled, but I managed not to yank any hair, grit my teeth, bite nails, or curse at anyone for the remainder of the day. WHEW! :) Today was much better. The thing I found most amazing was how much I'm beginning to analyze my behavior and my old habits. All through out today everytime I would start to think hard about something or get stuck on something, I would think, "Hmmmm....wonder what I could do about this or that. I guess I'll ponder on it while I have a smoke." Then it would hit me: I don't smoke anymore. And I would start laughing. Never realized before now how much I depended on Nic and his friends for almost everything in life. Problem solving, stress relief, post meals, boredom, socializing, and even sex required cigs!! LOL. Keeping busy and not allowing myself to focus on cigs has been very helpful. I have however had some urges, but I reminded them of who's in charge of this ship. ME! I'll make the decisions as to what route I'm gonna take, not the Nic!! Even if I have to take it minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. Today I say NO to NIC....N.O.P.E. Lol you made me smile. We must be related!! You described my mom to a T. Thank god she lives over 2000 miles from me, but she STILL manages gets under my skin even being that far apart - Am working on making it different hemisphere's haha :) lol. I really, really do feel for you. I used to take my smokes outside and smoke all her irritating annoying grrrrr ArrrGGggHHhhh all her stupid comments and putdowns. (yes she left me that frustrated that i cant even describe how she really made me feel). Where did it leave me? No where, i never resolved the issues i had, i smoked them all up now the fog is lifting i HAVE been FORCED to deal with the situation then and there when she does something. When it comes time to do this make sure you step back from the situation for a moment and really think about what it is you want to say. You know what though, i feel sooo much better for it. How awesome are you getting through this. You are doing really well. You are the master of your own destiny :) Stay strong. One day at a time, smile and be proud of yourself. Big reward for you tonight :) :) PrincessC :) x My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 961 Amount Saved: $489.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 20 Mins: 46 Seconds: 45

good for you leolibra, (are you on the cusp?) You will find that anything that stresses you will be a trigger to smoke. Smoking did dominate every aspect of our lives. It takes a while to live long enough to get through every situation without smoking..ie, your first road trip w/o nic, your first vacation w/o nic, your first fight with someone w/o nic, your first night out with friends w/o nic, your first everything w/o nic. We learn so much about ourselves and our lifestyles after we quit smoking. I had to cry alot to come to terms with some of it. But, so be it. I am not smoking. I am not slowly killing myself. Did you do the work on the left of the screen? When the withdrawal and cravings get bad, come here and read and post. Do whatever you need to to get through.
