Dandy 2have ya here Duffis~ Many accolades! It was worth it. It gave me the opportunity to meet myself. We were good friends before but now we are soul mates. Heck, I've grown to love her ;) She wasn't nearly as complicated as she thought she was. Life is so much more simple now. (even when it's stressful) Life without poison air is good. :) All the best~ 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 302 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,661 Amount Saved: $1510 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 17 Mins: 44 Seconds: 51

Congrats Dear Duffis. What an awesome milestone. 70 weeks. Is it worth it? Hmmm... Let's see. I use to spend all my spare time on the deck smoking. When the kids wanted to do something it was always, let me have a cigarette first. Now I live my life. I have replaced smoking with living and it feels awesome. Most definately worth it. The benefits are endless. Great post, Duffis. Congratulations on 70 weeks smoke-free. You are truly an inspiration. My answer to your question is an overwhelming YES it is so very worth it. All the struggles, the downs, the fights, the agony, the depression, all of what seemed to be negative aspects of this quit. All of them pale in comparison to the feelings of pride, accomplishment, and contentment I now have. As I've said before, I would most certainly do it all over in a heartbeat, but I won't have to. I'm still going through changes, and I still believe they are all for the better. Still learning to control my temper, but the "music as a reward" thing I mentioned in my 1 year ramble seems to be working. I have a group of songs on my computer at work that I now use in situations I would have had a cigarette in. It seems I should have figured this out long before, but sometimes I'm a bit slow on the uptake. I wish everyone with less than 6 months quit, especially those still struggling, could feel as I feel, even if just for a day. Just to know what is coming, what the light feels like. I know for some of you it's pure hell right now. Please don't smoke, stay quit, it will be so worth it. You keep leading, Duffis. I'll keep following. Wow.70 weeks without a smoke and thats no joke folks. 490 days and some of it in a daze like a rat in a maze but I found my way to freedom and you can too its there for you to do. No trying, no crying just doing it. It is so simple any one can do it. What has it done for me outside of almost 15,000 cigarettes not smoked and over 2 grand not spent on the dam things and over 3 months added to my life.I really havent given it a thought.hummmmmmmmm lets see, well I do feel better overall even after smoking for over 58 years. I guess I breathe better, I quit snoring, and my love life got reincarnated after 72 years. I dont smell like an ash trey, my clothes are fresh and smell good. My house smells nice like lilacs and night blooming jasmine. My cars smell like they just came off the show room floor kind a new and fresh. My taste buds are now acute and I can enjoy some really good vintage wines and beers (in moderation folks). My wife actually likes me again as well as my doggies, Foxy and JR. I catch more fish these days and my ability to have compassion for others grows every day. People have a lot more respect for me and some have even asked how do you quit smoking, is it hard and I just smile and say no it is not hard if you really want to quit I like that part. So the real question is this: was it worth it? I have my own opinion of course but I would like to hear from you. After reading this little blog what do you think? Let me know if this would be worth it to you. To all you fathers out there I say HAPPY FATHERS DAY Duffis :p duffis's Quit Stats Since Sunday, February 13, 2005, I've been smoke-free for: 1 Year(s), 125 Days, 7 Hours, 51 Minutes, 44 Seconds. I have saved $2,058.00 by not smoking 14709 cigarettes. By not smoking I have added 106 Days, 5 Hours, 20 Minutes, 35 seconds. to my life expectancy. I wan't to thank all of you for your response to this thread. I post things that I hope will be of help and not of hurt. There is a lot going on at the SSC these days and I see a lot of joy and pride; this is good. I also see a lot of pain and sadness; this is also good as the old saying "no pain no gain" seems to apply here. Hang on to your quit no matter what. The ground you have gained has been paid for in your own sweat and tears don't give it up.
